Ubisoft has announced that it will be doing a full reveal of Assassin's Creed Codename Red on May 15, and also that it will be dropping its colorful codename. Instead, the first Assassin's Creed game set in Japan will now be called Assassin's Creed Shadows. Additionally, the game's release date is apparently November 15, 2024. [Update: The Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer is here, and it further suggests the game will have dual protagonists.]

The reveal will start on May 15 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET and this will be first brand showcase dedicated to Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft didn't provide any more information on the game, but fans are curious whether it will skip the previous generation of consoles.

According to the Ubisoft Store listing data, it appears that it will come to PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, skipping the Xbox One. However, one insider claims that the game will not come to PS4. We will most likely get confirmation on available platforms when Ubisoft airs the debut reveal trailer later this week.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was revealed back in 2022 and takes place in feudal Japan. Given the franchise's theme of stealth, a game set in Japan featuring figures like ninjas felt like a natural fit. Assassin's Creed Shadows is also being led by the team responsible for Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Last year, the game's protagonist was seemingly leaked through a profile banner on a Ubisoft writer's LinkedIn profile.

Ubisoft has several other games in the series in development, including the mobile-focused Assassin's Creed Jade set in China and the witch-centered Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe.
