According to The Hollywood Reporter, London will host the European premiere soon after the LA showing. It has not been confirmed in which cinemas the premieres will be held.

The Force Awakens is directed by JJ Abrams, and will be released on December 16 in France and December 17 in the UK, before rolling out across the US on December 18.

This week, John Boyega, the film's 23-year-old star, spoke to the Daily Mail about the moment that Abrams told him he had the part. "I learned that I got the part over a nice breakfast in Mayfair," he said. "JJ said, 'John, you’re the new star of Star Wars,' and everything froze for a moment.'"

The film also stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
