Deadpool And Wolverine Director Is Producing A Movie Based On Disney's Club 33

Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps is developing a Club 33 movie that is inspired by the exclusive dining club at Disney parks.

The vast majority of Disney parks guests have never been inside of Club 33, if they're even aware of it at all. But the exclusive dining club for the stars is the latest Disney attraction that's being developed as a feature film. The project is being produced by Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy and his production partners Dan Levine and Dan Cohen through their production company, 21 Laps Entertainment.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Goosebumps and Shazam! screenwriter Darren Lemke is set to write the script for Club 33. Lemke's previous credits include DreamWorks Animation's Shrek Forever After, Turbo, and Kung Fu Panda 4. He was also an executive producer on Prime Video's The Wheel of Time.

The original Club 33 was opened in 1967 at Disneyland above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Club 33's guest list is exclusive to VIPs and celebrities, and Disney eventually added satellite locations of the club at Walt Disney World in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.

According to THR, the film's version of Club 33 is an exclusive dining club that exists outside of time and space that allows guests from the past and the present to mingle together. However, when a guest is murdered in the club, a young aspiring detective named Kim is called upon to solve the case.

Disney has had mixed results with turning its attractions into films. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies have been hits, but two different versions of the Haunted Mansion films have failed to resonate with fans. It's too soon to say how well Club 33 will fare, as it doesn't have a director or a release date yet.
