Wow. The posts are really crazy on this on. Yes, we get it. You love the Wii U. But this game is horrible Just be glad it was released, considering how many are not on this system.
I would love this game if not for two issues that are game killing to me. One is when you die you dont get to keep your gear and you have to track it down. And i tend to die a lot because of all the hits it takes to kill one zombie. if theres a couple of them it gets overwhelming...to me. maybe not to you. Two is that there are save rooms scattered about but wherever you save doesnt matter. if you die you return to the safe house. and have to track down your gear. whats the point of the save points. i dont know. lol. oh well. atmospheres great. graphics are great. not much of a story. but oh well. those two issues did it in for me after about two hours of gameplay.

But it is a crappy game. I own all the consoles from 1985 and forward, And play most genres (except most racing/sport games). And most of the stuff the reviewer is talking about is not something he doesn't like because he hates it or Nintendo. Most of the stuff are actually things that make the game crap. And sure it may annoy people more or less, but if you cant see the bad points of this game then it is more like you just like the game because of some of the hypes. Its Nintendo! Its a Zombie game! Its a Horror game! Its new!
But it is from an objective standpoint a crappy game. I liked it the first 20-30min. But it soon died into a "must play it so i can finish it" type of game.
I didn't get annoyed with the controls, and i actually thought the display part was a bit interesting (it was a good use and for it, and a must use for one of the first games to be released on wiiu).
But there was so many bad points to the game.
#The top of the head ALWAYS pops of on the first hit, no matter where you hit or what you hit with. And when it dies its head ALWAYS explodes, no matter where you hit or what you hit with. (applies mainly to the basic zombies population most of the game world)
#The "You will die many times" part, i like in a survival type of game. BUT the only time you die or was in danger of dying. Was during the event based hordes. Which only came at specific points in the game. And always in places where you have no choice then to fight them (unless the event was to escape the horde). Normally you could easily take 2 zombies maybe 3. a horde usually contain more then that running towards you. Or when you did a mistake and didn't have a weapons or ammo to correct it.
#The "scare" moments. Like in the first game trailers. Where you crawl in the vents and a royal guard zombie suddenly drags you out. Happens only then, only once and only the first time you are there.
#If you die once then you have to find your zombie survivor. Kill it. and loot it. That was fine. But if you are unlucky and die on your way to the zombie survivor. Then that zombie survivor will despawn and your loot will be "randomly" placed on specific places on the different maps you unlock. Which change every time you die. So the "kill the Zombie survivor to get your loot", turns into the annoying as hell, "run around all the old maps to find your loot again"
#The "you start as a new survivor each time", was a fun idea. But with every NPC treating you as if you have been there before or done stuff for them.
#And to top things of you get a nice sniper rifle and using the scope with the pad is fun. BUT there is very few places where that is actually any use.
And these are just some points that actually are in the game. Not just something i make up so people will hate wiiu/zombiu.
I actually liked one or two of the Nintendo Land games. But in whole, Nintendo land was a bit to much aimed for children and demo-isch. To be fun more then one start up. unless your drunk ;P
Of course there are sure to be some good points in the game as well. But after playing it im to much on the "i don't like you Zombiu" side, to see them correctly.
but really. In short.
I good idea, could have become a fun game if they waited a year to polish it before release.

@tnkangelicus so.. It's a crappy game because you and the reviewer didn't like it, huh? I guess the 270+ other users and 70 other critics givint it a combined average of 7.5+ are all stupid and you're right.... I think it's just you that are a crappy player/reviewer
Forgot to add that 4.5 is a tad low. If i would look at the game objectivly i would probl give it a 6 or 7. Depending of you should count that it is a new game for a new console.
for me personally. Not worth the money or the time spent playing it.
@tnkangelicus forgot to add: if you think a 7 is a score for a "crappy" game, than it's REALLY clear you have no clue how to rate games...
@walterg74 Sorry if what i think about the game doesn't count. And what i stated are actually exist in the game. And also for me the game would prob get 3-4 not worth the time or money i spent for it. If i would look at the game more objectivly (= not what i think about it), then prob 6-7 would prob be more correct score
this game is awesome, how come it got 4.5
im sure so many people hates on Nintendo.. and wii u bcuz its Always find the ideas and the other companies copying them.

2 Like Wow. Gamespot can be so biased. I come to this review hearing how everyone thinks this game is great, how it was much better than everyone thought, and even though I usually play just play Nintendo's more popular games (Mario, Zelda, etc.) I thought I would try this game. Then I see the review score thinking it sucks. Then I see the metacritic score, other reviews, and the comments and know that this reviewer has to be either missing something or hating on the Wii U.
Very nice game with great graphics, as for the gameplay?
Wish the PS3 and XBOX had this kind of gamepad
@albetron99g16 Just got wii u and been playing this. First no graphics are not psp style. They are way better. Second I find the game really fun. Easy 8.0 for me.
1 Like Yea just like i said the Wii U was gonna be a failure from the start.A over priced system with horrible graphics.Games that are just right down awful.Top it off with a Etch A Sketch size controller that will be way over priced at $149 when you can buy it in 2 years.It's been nice to see the Xbox 360 outselling it since it launched when all the worldwide total come in every week.Plus every store has them that you go to.Yea just wait for the next Xbox and Playstation.Nintendo needs to pull a sega and just be a publisher.

Overpriced? The next gen consoles to Playstation and Xbox are going to be $100-$200 more than expensive than this. The gamepad is great and Nintendo always sells. And saying it has "horrible graphics" just shows how much of bigot you are.
why do all of the reviewers at GS sound like their on valium? I played this game its not that bad judge for yourself if youre intereste....
@translucent17 +1... The only reason I even come to gamespot is to have a quick easy way on the game's page to see the metacritic score pus user scores :)
1 Like I have a huge problem with this review. He complains about zombies keeping up with you at walking speed,the lack of weapons (what about left 4 dead), and the use of a cricket bat as a primary method of killing (again, L4D), and being reckless can get you killed. Those are not at all things to complain about. I guarantee you this guy loves DayZ, but is willing to complain about this, while DayZ does a lot of the same things.

3 Like @McGuirex3 Its actually a great game, been playing for about 5 hours and really sucked into the atmosphere, please don't judge this game by this shocking review, makes me wonder how many other great games I have missed out on due to shitty reviews.
1 Like @pyosisified @McGuirex3 Not to be rude or anything, but a review is a persons opinion, just because your's is different does not make this a shitty review, it's an opinion. I've never understood how people justify the quality of a game based on the number it gets on-line.

The point of these reviews is to persuade (or in this case, dissuade) potential games to play the game. In such a case it is important that a reviewer be unbiased in his/her thoughts about the game. Pyosisified's remark is perfectly reasonable, and it seems many others share his view.

3 Like I enter Gamespot After 1 year roughly and what I see? Not only the situation hasn't changed ( like the horrible bashing article on the 3ds last year) but it got worse! What is this garbage?! Zombie u is an outstanding piece of software, an incredible survival horror, the same horror I was missing since re3! Gamespot is and will always be Anti Nintendo. Period.
BTW, using only the cricket bat is not necessary, when you lose a weapon it respawns in one ot the locations around London; one can check the computer inside the safe house to know where it is (along with ammo, items,etc).
AWESOME game, period.
im thinking of getting a wii u for christmas and i really do like the looks of this game an want an honest opinion of who ever has this game if it is a good started game to play with
@jesuspantoja00 The game is awesome, but's a bit difficult too. If you have patience and/or love the zombies genre you'll love it, but if you don't, then perhaps you should start with an easier game to get accostumed to the controls, etc.

Feels like you get a feel for the game after 10min, you know most things about the gameplay after 30min. After 60min then the only thing that surprises you, are a few scripted events that you where not really expecting. And after 2h the only thing "new" is when you get far enough to get an update in the story.
@jesuspantoja00 I'd buy a Wii U, but that's me! :P I haven't finished the game yet, but's not over after 8 hours like many this gen, especially if you like exploring and uncovering all the little things here and there.
Also, I plan to replay it and see if I can finish it with 1 - 2 survivors.

I honestly thought this was pretty ridiculous when I first saw it and I thought it couldn't possibly be right, but after playing the game, (and I know a lot of people disagree with me), I find the game to be quite boring and agree with mostly everything he said, though I would've put more emphasis on the lack of enemy variety and the copious amounts of unnecessary backtracking.
I own the game and it is fantastic! I usually agree with GS, but I don't really know what went wrong this time.
For me watching this review feels like they are talking about a completely different game.
IMO: The game feels great and looks very good, blood is there, gore is there, there's tension, the gamepad works genius, there are various weapons to choose from (pistols, carabin, gun turrets, grenades, etc), the combat is alright....
If you like the true horror-survival games, make sure to give this one a try. This is coming from a serious gamer that loves RE (1 through 5), DarkSouls, Deadspace, etc.

@GH05T-666 No, which is why so many people think that this review is laughably off base. Sure, many people have enjoyed "bad" games before, but this isn't a case of that. Gamespot simply didn't even come close on this one. At it's very worst it's a 6.5; and that's being extra harsh on it.
This is one of the best survival Horror games I've ever played! and the multiplayer is so much fun. if only you could get different melee weapons though.
