All Your Base Are Belong to Us

User Rating: 5 | Zero Wing GEN
“Zero Wing” for the Sega Genesis was not a particularly good game; its notoriety was in its cult phenomenon status more so than as a quality videogame.

What follows is the entirety of the utterly terrible translation this videogame underwent before arriving on our shores: In A.D. 2101 War was beginning; Captain: What happen?; Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb; Operator: We get signal; Captain: What!!; Operator: Main screen turn on; Captain: It's you!!; Cats: How are you gentlemen!!; Cats: All your base are belong to us; Cats: You are on the way to destruction; Captain: What you say!!; Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time; Cats: Ha ha ha...; Operator: Captain!!; Captain: Take off every 'Zig'!!; Captain: You know what you doing; Captain: Move 'Zig'; Captain: For great justice.

I find it amazing that "Zero Wing's" developer, Toaplan, cared so little for their game that they neglected to run the final product past anyone who speaks English fluently before releasing it in the States. Even the subtitles which accompany the laughable dialogue are wrong.

Don't bother purchasing or even renting "Zero Wing," instead zip over to You Tube, X, and search for "Zero Wing" or "All Your Base Are Belong to Us." Your search will return scores of videos of the opening video from the videogame.

At least the game provided some cult humor, along the lines of "porkchop sandwiches."
