Say good-bye to iPod boredom.

Considering that I have seven pages of them, I know what I'm talking about when I say that this is easily one of the best free apps on the market. One thing that's hard to find on the iPod is a decent RPG. Most of the ones you find will just be cheap ripoffs of Pokemon where the computer instantly decides the victor of each battle. Finall, though, there is a free RPG for Apple devices that can even give a handheld game a run for its money. Zenonia is an isometric, real-time combat RPG that is somewhat reminiscent of Zelda, but with significantly better graphics and improved combat. Combat works about haow you would expect from a game from this genre. You have a main attack button which can be used to pull off all kinds off flashy combos, and you have a hotbar full of your potions and skills. All things considered, this game really doesn't make any kind of significant innovations. Its only truly outstanding acheivement, really, is that it's on the iPod and it's fun. While the game does have an interesting "Fairy" mechanic, at its core it is just another RPG. That's not to say the game is bad. It has a genuinely intriguing, often funny (a lot of fourth-wall jokes) storyline that you really have to play at least the beginnings of the other games to fully understand, the controls run fairly smoothly, and combat is a blast. Considering that most people never leave the house without an iPod, it can also be much more addicting than any console game. Reaching level 20 is not a week-long affair, it's a day-long one. So, while Zenonia may not be very original, hey, it's finally a fun game on the iPod. We all wanted it, now it's finally here.
