A disappointing sequel

User Rating: 6.2 | Zelda II: The Adventure of Link NES
It took only 1 year to make, and sadly it feels like it as well. The game does have some good ideas but they don’t work well.

Game play—The game does play well but is far too hard to be enjoyed. Blocking and defending is made difficult by having to duck and jump, enemies come from all directions and if they attack from above, it is almost impossible to defend. The level up idea is good but not used very well, you earn points for killing monsters and are then able to up grade life, magic and power. The first 2 only require 100 points , but soon it requires 1000 points, and if you die the points are cleared!

Graphic—the game moved from a top view to a 2d platform approach. This makes it feel like a cash in on the Mario games and doesn’t work well for Zelda games. The colours and backgrounds are good and well done.

Sound—the sound is almost the same as the first game and is done well.

Overall the game could have been done better, made easier and a bit more fun. The only good thing about this game is that Nintendo scraped the 2D platform idea.
