Adol the Red Headed Hero is at it again.... Time to save the World!

This was my first try at a Y's game and I have to say I was slightly dissapointed because in my opinion the game was too short and sometimes repetative. Let me explain.

The story starts as Adol, the Hero, is knocked off his Pirate ship and washes up on shore on an island inside the Vortex. It is here he meet a clan of people called the Redah who nurse him back to health. Soon after exploring the island you save the Priestess from a Giant dragon and so your quest trurly begins. You are given a special sword made out of Emel, a special metal found on the island when you kill monsters. You use this Emel to upgrade your swords throughout the game. After the third dungeon you now have 3 different swords with different elements that you can switch between as your playing.

The area of the game is very small as you are stuck on this island and although new caves open up, you have to go through a couple of them more than once in order to complete the game. The battles are all in real time as you can see the creatures on the field and attack right away. There is no cut scene or break in action. But when going back and forth between dungeons the enemies dont get stronger on the fields so you end up fighting the same weak enemies over and over again with no real experience value. The bulk of the game is trying to gather enough Emel to upgrade your swords, which seems impossible unless you fight thousands of monsters over and over again. (As a bonus before you start your game you can enter cheat codes.... see gamefaqs for details)

The game was too simple and too short in my opinion, although the story was pretty good. I just feel they could have done more to make this a great game instead of a medeocre one. There are 5 extra bonus levels you can play as the game progresses but even those were too easy once you got a handle on playing the game.

I would say its worth a rental if your an RPG buff like myself. Can be fun at times but no real replay value.
