The pleasure you get out of playing Y’s comes at a very hi price because of those awful load times.

This was my first dive into the Y’s series, before the PSP version I had really not heard anything about the series I have to say I am not disappointed about playing Y’s the game isn’t bad at all what’s really messed up are the load times, every time you go through a door or go into a new area or even checking on the equipment you have the game has to load from the UMD disc. This is definitely the biggest setback the game has and is enough to make somebody stop playing the game which is sad because the story line is somewhat interesting and the gameplay is very good.

The music is a good complement to the gameplay of Y’s, which is more an action RPG in which you get to smash them buttons to fight. Its graphics are at the most average but the backgrounds look crisp on the PSP’s screen and of course we have to remember that Y’s has that old school look so basically everything looks 2d but it actually is 3d.

At the end of the day I would not recommend Y’s to everybody, I am satisfied to have seen it through to the end but the load times simply disrupt the gameplay too much, specially when you have to jump to platforms at the risk of falling to room that is a couple of screens away it simply becomes a dreaded shore. But, if you are the patient type and want to take on a solid action RPG or if you are a fan of the series and prefer the PSP over the PS2 this is the game for you.
