I'll just stick with the Ys 6 PC.

You know sometimes it just baffles me about how crappy some of these ports can get. But this one just takes it. For a game series 6th installment that had finaly made it overseas 3- 4 years after its initial release in japan, we certainly got the ass end of it.

Ok well lets look at everything good about this amazing game. Great graphics, that, even though not all that advanced compared to todays next gen, still leave you looking at the backgrounds more than any sprites on the screen. Awsome little 2D chibi Adol that looks funny running around the screen, slashing up monsters and jumping canyons. Awsome rock sound track, which is a standard for all Falcom games. Not to mention that it plays extremely well. Oh wait did I forget to mention that these are all on the PC version?

The PS2 port was fatheful enough, minor changes to the graphics and not quite as smooth running as the original. Standard load times.....but.....THEY CHANGED ADOL"S SPRITE! to some crappy looking 3D rendition of him. I dont understand the fear that some game companies have about realeasing anything 2D in north america. Look at Disgaea for example.

Ok, the psp, version. Basicily its everything the ps2 port is, except much much worse. As soon as you load up the first scene, you will already be waiting a good 3-4 seconds to see the next scene, the graphics look like you turned the PC versions down the the absolute minimum, Sound quality seems like its on a low bitrate. AND THAT DAMN SPRITE IS BACK!, that stupid little 3D Adol. I was hoping that they would return him back to his former 2D glory, at least for the pocket edition of this game. But the psp version has little to no changes from the ps2 edition. What little changes that have been made the the psp version, seriously hurt this game.

I just hope to god that the dont release anymore Falcom games here, if they are all going to turn out like this. Do yourself a favor, if you are really willing to see what this game has to offer, Import the PC version, it is very much worth every cent. I Now im off to play some Gurumin. ^_^
