Dengeki Long Interview with Kondo about Celceta

Dengeki did their usual post-mortem with Falcom's CEO about Ys Celceta: http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/549/549798/

I've only skimmed it but he talks about how they wanted to refresh the series a little with the forest mapping etc. For example the reason you can do the first two dungeons in any order is because it would be a little odd to have a sea of trees with only one way to go. He also comments about the music and the story. Dengeki wants to know if they've considered doing a game with old Adol or one where he aims for the North Pole. Apparently they've considered both and have suggested Otsuka Akio (aka Solid Snake) as the voice for old Adol. So they go off on a tangent if Adol's beard would still be red, how they would want his eyes to still be sparkling like a little kid's, etc.

Anyway they're already working on the next Ys game and Kondo wants to go for the Guinness for most games starring the same character.

This is why Falcom's awesome. Trying to break new grounds in their games while still being faithful to the formula and their fans.

Also, hell yeah aim for that spot Falcom!

I wonder what their new Ys game is. I would say it's a remake of Ys V since that's the only old Ys game that has not received a remake treatment yet. Plus, a lot of mechanics from current Ys games have their roots in that game so it'd come in a nice full circle, per say.
