A fun plarformer for all ages.

User Rating: 9.5 | Yoshi's Story N64
I have grown fond of this game over the years and would recommend it to anyone that still has an N64. The game is simple, like any 2D platformer should be, yet it offers a certain charm and fun-factor that makes it stand out above other games of its kind.

The story is a little weak: Baby Bowser takes the "happy tree" and all the little yoshis have to go off and defeat him in order to get it back.To get to Baby Bowser, you must complete half a dozen little worlds. Each one is a different page of a pop-up book and consists of 4 levels each. You only need to beat one of the levels to get to the next page, so it is pretty easy to beat the game seeing that there are only a handful of worlds/pages.

The gameplay is smooth. You can use the "Z" button to throw eggs at enemies. The "B" button allows you to eat shy guys and other monsters and turn them in to eggs. Another attack consists of jumping in the air and come crashing down on an unsuspecting foe. All these work pretty well and are fun to use. The jumping is really nice too, because your yoshi can kick his legs to jump higher and sort of hover momentarily, making it easier to deal with platforms.

Every level has a new twist to it. Some levels have you swimming while other have you floating from an umbrella or avoiding flaming monsters and fighting bone dragons. All of the boss fights at the end of the pages are extremely easy, so don't expect anything to be very challenging.

"E" really is for everyone here. This is a clean, fun, and easy to learn game. Though it is made for kids, it can be for anyone who is looking for a simple game that can be beat in an afternoon.
