Yoshi's Story is so annoyingly saccharine that it makes Dr. Seuss seem bleak and nihilistic in contrast. If you're gonna make a game for kindergartners, at least tell a good story. It's also so easy that the 5 year olds this game was meant for wouldn't feel any sort of accomplishment either. The game wants you to hunt for hidden fruit, but most of them are don't take any effort to find. Since all the ones you need to win the level are all in plain sight, it makes it pointless and unrewarding to find the hidden ones.
The sequel to the original Yoshi's Island ended up being the PBS Kids version of that game; what a shame...
