First off, this is no Grand Theft Auto clone, in fact, GTA is totally different from this game. The only thing that the Grand Theft Auto series has a similarity to in this game is the free travel at free time. Other then that, it is totally different.

WARNING!: This game has foul language and intense violence, so go check it out!

REVIEW:
In this game, you take the role as Kazuma Kiryu. He was called "Dragon of Dojima" until his friend Nishiki killed their boss. Kazuma was left to blame when the police came. He spent 10 years locked in a jail cell and was released and now tries his best to fix anything he can. Kazuma meets up with a girl named Haruka, the girl worth 10 billion Yen. He needs to protect and fight for what is right and that is were you, the player, step in.

I have to say the story is put together fairly well. You will be meeting many missions and fighting many Yakuzas, hoodlums, thugs, and bums. You will meet some odd characters in the game.

In a video game, there is always a good, as well as a bad. The voice acting in this game is probably the worst I have heard all year in a game. Translating it to English was ok, but they need to improve the voice acting a bit more. Another bad thing in this game is the camera. It might take you a bit to get past some pretty bad spots Kazuma might be standing in because your view will be obstructed sometimes. The final thing is numbers of enemies. You will run into an enemy on the streets no matter what. They will chase after you and you will be in a fight with up to 6 people maximum. There a bunch of great things in the game. One is the fighting. Wouldn't you just love to pick up a knife or chair or rock and hit someone right across the face with it? OF COURSE YOU WOULD! Another good thing that relates to that last feature is special moves. Whenever you momentum bar is full, use the triangle button near a wall, water, stairs, you name it. When you smash a guys face against a wall, tree, pole, etc..., he will fall to the ground. When he falls, click triangle when the icon apears and stomp on that thugs head to finish him off. You can also throw someone into a body of water, and I think you can throw someone down stairs. One more positive thing about Yakuza is that the graphics will blow you away.

Well, Sega is always making us gamers happy with what they have to offer and Yakuza was a great game so I aplaud Sega and their hard work put into Yakuza. Any PS2 owner should at least attemp to rent or even purchase Yakuza.
