Xenogears is, in my opinion just as good as the legendary Chrono Trigger. The huge problem with Xenogears was that it was much less publicized then Chrono Trigger or any of the Final Fantasy series. If you havent played this game and are a fan of role-playing games I seriously recommend that you get it for whatever price you can find. One of the best things about this game is the incredible story. You may have a few questions near the end that even playing through twice doesnt answer... but isnt a story that actually makes you think better than a normal one? You play as a young man, Fei, who has lost his memory and now lives in a small village. The story starts off with the village being attacked by a mysterious force of giant robots called gears. Fei gets in one that has no pilot in an attempt to ward off the attackers and save his village... but that is when the trouble starts. But enough about the story, the gameplay is unique in that you get so much AP per turn and you can use the x, square, and triangle buttons to do strong, medium, and weaks attacks at different costs of ap. Its a little different when you are in a gear, but same concept mostly. This game can last you a good 60-70 hours of gameplay if you care to get everything in the game. The graphics are thought of as bad now.. but they were revolutionary then, being one of the first fully 3-D games. And besides.. im guessing if you like RPGs then graphics arent the first thing on your mind. So if you like RPGs at all then go out and buy this game as quick as you can.
