Ought to punch himself for turning out such an awful, shallow game. Dull gameplay and usability issues... Xenonauts looks truer to the original. Cant wait for it to come out...

There is something called "trying too hard". I mean, Jake Solomon could have saved himself from a lot of work if he just had punched every single person who didn't buy the game. That is a valid, aggressive marketing strategy

I like when he whispers to the guy: "xcommmmm"...

If I knew that JS would have a REAL copy of the game as he tries to sell it to some unsuspecting gamer in some gamestore.... I'd be grabbing it from him quick and throw my money at him while I run away.... so I can play it ahead of everyone else! hahahaha... v^_^,

Funny dude. No need to sell me. I played the demo and pre-ordered straight away.

Every interview I watch with Jake is so entertaining, even when being informative. It's quite sad no one in that store know who he is, let alone Xcom... really saddening. Anyway I would love to work with him and the rest at Firaxis, one of the few bigger dev companies that actually get the game industry; I mean it is all under Sid Meier so you know it's an amazing experience.

If there were ever a quirky dlc in a game that I'd jump on it would to have Jake Solomon be a soldier in this. His banter would be priceless in this game. To end this I must say this, and think of Jake saying it:

"That's Xcom baby!" :)

Shopper "I'll just get all my guys killed"

Jake "yeah! you will"

He's a funny bloke :)

He should have try to sell a PS3 or PC version of the game. I would have loved to buy the PC or PS3 version early. The waiting is killing me....all I want to do is played XCOM already!

I've heard jake soloman do a number of interviews and he seems like a cool guy.  I might just buy the game because of him.

Funny vid. I remember selling something similar with Sport Athletes at a Models posing as a sales person trying to convince people to buy thier jersey. Funny stuff, especially when people say something negative about the player in his face without knowning. But Deshawn Jackson couldn't pull it off...too many people recognized him. Glen Burnie isn't too far from where I live. If I was their I'd be like play along and have him work extra hard to convince me and at the end, I'd make him think he converted me even though I was gonna get the game day one. Selling games is no joke.

Jake Solomon! I'll buy it if you make your next project Star Control 2: Ur-Quan Masters.  Heck, I'm still buying this.

That was a bit painful to watch. Still, picking up the game first thing on day 1.

@shadow131990 Oh wait, are those people who don't just buy anything only because a stranger tells them it's great ?

And what about that "such a great game" ? Have you played it yet ?

I am so sold on this game it isn't even funny anymore - this clip was though. Nice to see a charismatic game studio guy also. I have deep respect for all but it always ranges from "I am dead serious about a video game" to "I make gigantic promises that are vague on details with a big smile like I'm high", it's just really nice to see a people person :)

I know this is all for a good laugh...but dang, they are really going hard-sell with all these videos of XCOM out recently.

I really miss the old days when you just pick up a game knowing so little about it and it just blows your mind when you later find out how good it was.

It was such a huge contributing factor as to why I love the older games so much.

@Munstable 'the old days when you just pick up a game knowing so little about it and it just blows your mind'.

You mean like 'UFO: Enemy Unknown'? One of the best games of the '90s & arguably the best Amiga game. It was also known as 'XCOM: UFO Defense' (sic) in the US...

Munstable
Munstable

@f1tz By the time UFO defense came out, I've sold my amiga for a pc, lured by demos of Wing Commander and sound blaster.

But yes, some of my fondest game memories is from the Amiga. Sword of Sodan, It Came From The Desert, Speedball, Hostages, IK+, so many many countless titles...

Fembot_Eulogy
Fembot_Eulogy

@Munstable that reminds me of RE4, Bioshock and DeadSpace. I know you must be referring to games even before those. But that's what your post gets me thinking about :)

Munstable like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

@Fembot_Eulogy I'm glad my post brought back some nice memories for you.

But I recall a time when all I'd hear about a game before release was an ad or review in a game magazine. Other times, I would just walk into a store and rely on my instincts. Fortunately, things turned out well most of the time.

Yes, the original XCOM was one such title. I guess it can still happen with the younger generation of gamers. I'm just getting old and nostalgic.

Fembot_Eulogy
Fembot_Eulogy

@Munstable Actually bro, I'm probably not much older/younger than you are. I remember walking to the game stores to rent games cartridges for games like Chrono Trigger and FF3.. In any case, we have some good memories between us :D
