Seriously looks like a Live Arcade game, not a formal full release game. Can't see paying $60 for this game. Looks far too limited.

It seemed like the characters could move way too far and do way too much in one turn. If the enemy can do that much too, that makes it quite a different strategy game than the original and not as enjoyable, frankly.
This is a different game than I thought it was, when they first announced it they made it seem as though it would be a cheap game coming along side the other xcom game. I thought previous versions were just rts games. But honestly after looking at it I'm interested, no doubt I'm still going to wait for a sale. It reminds me of Metal Gear Acid and some other games I played back in the day. Have not seen anything like this in awhile, anyone else recommend some games like this I could play till it is cheaper? Not Civ, I have but games just take way too long
@SouL-Tak3R The Desciples Series Plays like this, as Does Front Mission and FF Tactics. Also Armored Princess Plays like this too kind of.
I'm still totally stoked for this game. I have to say though, animating Sid was amusing the first time, but the joke is getting old....
1 Like In early 90's I loved that game, I spent with it about a hundreds of hours but I don't like this new ufo :/ something don't play well here.

@StromileSwiftee it was done for the presentation in Comic-Con 2012, my guess is they might put him in as a cookie or something... like complete a number of objectives in a limited ammount of time throughout the gameplays and you might have him as a playable psionic commander... just a guess though
@Cristhian_Cobas @StromileSwiftee during the very first reveal of sid meir a few weeks ago the reviewer asked if sid meir was in the final game, the firaxis guy has a cheeky smile and said something like, well you never know. Interpret that as you like :)

2 Like Dont' worry about it reminding you of other games, this looks very much like a modernised revamp of the original XCom series. It wouldn't be right if it didn't have a cheesy 'B' movie feel to it
I never had the chance to play it on the 1st playstation. Maybe it will be on the PSN network soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Cristhian_Cobas Ive played the old XCOM on pc and loved it. But thats a long time ago. Iam looking forward to this game because 1 it look awsome and 2 i loved the old one. And just one for the dev: More strategy games for PS3
@tightwad34 @Sprock26 well remember this is not a "strategy" game per se, this is Tactical Squad Role Playing Game (a genre that was born with "Laser Squad" the predecessor of UFO/XCOM series), that includes RPG elements, mixed up with strategy commands in a small squad. It's still the best reimagineing I've seen so far, and trust me I've played my share of TSRPGs... the closest ones were Cenega's trilogy (UFO Aftermath, that I'm glad to have the original packaging since my country didn't import those games back in the days; UFO Aftershock and UFO Afterlight, both imported later on).
If you like these games, you should try the old XCOMs, Jagged Alliance Back in Action, and a few others in DS list (if you don't mind graphic attention)
Anyways, waiting for this to come out... And yes, I'll get it for the PS3... (even though I'm a sucker for PC TSRPG games... I think I'll wait for a "collector's pack" for PC :D)
@Sprock26 @tightwad34 I think civ rev was kind of a let down compared to the PC version of civ, BUT being a console strategy game, it was awesome... hopefully devs will make more strategy games for consoles, the problem is the niche target audience... not a lot of fans out there (compared to FPS and Action games)
@tightwad34 @Cristhian_Cobas I know revolution was dumbed down a bit, but i thought it was awsome. It was the kind of game you could enjoy even if you were just watching a buddy play it.
Civ Rev was dumbed down quite a bit for the consoles. It still was a great game. I don't have anything to compare it to because it's the first Civ game I have played. I just want a top-notch, robust stategy game that I could put endless hours into and still want more.
This effects reminds me of Ghost Master game, and feels, like Superhero cartoon. Too many colors.
@slavagen if you happen to have the old original games, you'll realize that the time the game was released was the time where every game dev was trying to give a "comic book" feel to their games... Flashback, fallout (the original one), and others... it seems pretty cool that they are staying true to the feel the original UFOs gave you...

A fabulous game design and keep some of the main aspect of the original Xcom. But i think this game should came out 5 years ago. Hopefully, more new ppl will enjoy playing UFO-xcom game.

Small detail but... I didn't see a single female in the crowd at the beginning of the trailer. Until they brought in the soldier chick at the end I thought this was a male-only city. They should have added more character variety, I think.

3 Like Played the crap out of the original and you can be damn sure I'll be playing the crap out of this game when it comes out in a month's time. Although; this game needs more exposure! Get some of the newer generation gamers on board... So i can beat them online :->
looks good - will add it to my preorders, to play between Borderlands 2 this month, and Hitman in November. The end of this year is looking good for games :)
@Avenger1324 between this and hitman its gonna be a sweet two months, hopefully the new hitman will be looking to the first two hitman games, which it seems to be :D
