This is a quick review for those who are into the same type of games as I am!
The gameplay of XCOM: Enemy Unknown was done very, very well. This is the first turn-based strategy game that I have played on a console. The cover system (both using cover and having one of your soldiers in overwatch while others move) is excellent and has saved some of my soldiers from dying on more than one occasion. The random rolls add an element of excitement to the game, whether it be for shooting at an enemy, dodging an enemies attack, or rolling for a Will resist on an Ethereal's mind control.
The XCOM base let's you choose whether you wanna put your time and resources into Research, Engineering, or your Academy to help make your soldiers better. You'll have to make decisions on whether you should put a satellite over India or Australia, trying to make everyone happy so they don't abandon your cause. The Terror missions are quite fun, having you manage between saving civilians while fighting the Aliens at the same time.
This game was a nice change of pace from my shooter or RPG favorites. It can be monotonous at times but researching that new set of armor makes it worth it. Have fun with this game everyone.
