So my brother and I had just decided to play a small vs game against one another.
He set up his team of garden variety soldiers and a sectoid
I just picked one thin man (named him Slender)
We played on a map with one (conjunctioned) building in the middle. It had a restaurant with rafters.
Long story short.
Slender won with skillful utilization of the rafters and poison cloud. Seemed fun. that is all

That seems... unlikely.
Not saying you're lying, just seems like you got very lucky.
Though come to think of it, a thin man team that just poisons them and runs away sounds like the most troll-tacular strategy ever.

You are now aware that the island of Tar Valon from the Wheel of Time is a yonic symbol.

since you can't poison and run away effectively, you probably wouldn't have a viable tactic most of the time. also all it takes is one titan armor or cyberdisk to ruin the entire strategy

Colt 45 and two zig-zags, Baby that's all we need
We can go to the park, after dark, smoke that tumbleweed!

Yeah, but who uses titan armor?

I do.
Why? In multiplayer? I haven't played any multiplayer yet, but I built some in single player thinking it would give me greater movement speed and or range based on the description about it being:
makes use of the alien element known as Elerium to provide a continual powered assist to the operator of this suit as they move through the battlefield. But all it does is +10 health. I'd prefer to go with the armors that give you a better chance of avoiding/escaping damage, than one that allows you to take more damage.

In SP I don't bother with Titan armour because of the reasons you stated but in MP it can be quite effective against an opponent who uses 5 or 6 weak units that aren't capable of dealing much damage. While there are definitely counters, I've won at least a few games using only one sniper and one assault both fully upgraded. The biggest threat when using this loadout is Mind Control.

You would be right on me being really lucky. For some reason my bro had a hard time targeting me.
A truly troll team would be them heavy floaters using that indoor ceiling glitch which causes them to disappear but still attack as if no walls block their way.
My bro and I also like playing a nice game of VS all chrysalids. One of us given enough points to get a full chrysalid team and see how the other does against it.
