I'm new to the XCom series but very interested since it's in my line of games I play (rpgs, strategy) so I have a few questions regarding character editing/creation.
01. Are you randomly assigned soldiers/generated or do you create them from the beginning?
02. If you are randomly assigned soldiers, it is possible to reload or switch out for a character you like better? For example if you wanted an all male/female team or a team of a specific nationality (roleplay purposes) is that possible?
03. Is there a 'main character' or is it just your squad? If there is an MC is he/she customizable?

Soldier generation is random. After you receive your troops you can edit:
Name
Face
Hair
Armor Color (preorder)
Race? not sure about this one
You cannot edit:
Gender
Nationality
Class
I suppose you could reload until you get the soldiers you want, personally I feel the charm is in getting random people and coming to grow attached to them as you play.
No main character everyone in the squad is equal and can die just as easily as anyone else.

I think that it will not be available for DLC, but the good news is it's not JUST a pre-order bonus. It's a launch bonus. Basically the first shipment sent out is going to have the bonus, so if you buy it first day, you're pretty much ensured you'll get it.

Not sure if this was asked, but you can have up to 99 soldiers -- it's just that you can only field 4-6 at a time. Recruiting new soldiers costs money, however, so it makes sense to have 10-14 that you focus on.
