XCOM: Enemy Unknown Question

Is there a way to go back to base view while Ranger is in flight?

Once while my ranger was en route to an abduction mission, my researchers finished plasma weapons. It then let me look at the base view and I could do all of the actions you can do normally. When I then went to mission control my Ranger continued its flight path from where it left off. I was wondering if there is a way to force this to happen so that I can sort stuff out if I need to while my ranger is heading to a mission?

So, I have tried at a few different times to interrupt a Skyranger flight with no results. You must have had events occur at just the right time to be able to do what you did. Sorry I couldn't really help.

    While I haven't had your circumstances occur, nor have I tried what I am about to suggest, I would assume that you could press B to return to the base view. I will test this and report back to you.
