I loved this game, however it took a bit of getting used to, they'd changed so much since Fight Night Round 3 it was like playing a completely new game. Which is a rarity for sports games from E.A, they mainly consist of releasing the same game every year with an updated roster and maybe one or two new features... this game took a good long while to be made and it's paid off. I do have issues with the create a character mode... It's really hard even with the camera to make my face (Not there fualt) so I have to do some adjusting in the character creation mode.. however I had the player character looking just like me and had it looking perfect just for a message to pop up reading "You have been disconnected from the E.A server" and then to take me back to the main menu with all I'd worked hard on to do vanished in an instant.

Ok this game is good, and now Im playing online, im telling its **cking terrible. Its cheap, and I'm telling you this that YOU WILL LOSE IF YOU LAG. My opponenet was literally 10 times faster than me and his punches was **cking more powerful. In a normal pace, I would beat my friends cuz I can actually predict there punches and succesully counter it, but the laggyness, another story. I gave the game a 8.5 but thats the singleplayer. The multiplayer in the other hand, laggy, uneven, hard.

This game is really highly recommended. I just bought it last week and I love it specially the online match. But i hate those stupid quitters, EA sports should find a way to award the fight to the obvious winner.

fight round 4 is real slow with the KO.it is little like UFC undisputed at the end of a good jab or a hook shot.so UFC is better.round 3 really fun then round 4.

This is a great game. Great graphics, great audio and great game play. Personally I can't play this game for too long a session as it gets quite boring pounding a guy for 10 full rounds @ 3mins a round lol.. Playing online is awesome as well, just that the reviewer has hit the nail on the head in online game play... but saying that, its true for all fighting games. Anyone who is complaining about controls are just scrubs and i have to agree to all you guys out there who are saying they can't believe ppl r being so stubbon not getting the game due to the control system (the only game control that sucked so bad that i put it down was Alone in the Dark T.T)

Man this game reminds me of rock em sock em robots ,bring back the buttons. Button mashing will always exist in fighting games;this holds true even for this game (fnr4). Last time i checked button mashers eventually get picked apart as players become more skillful/familiar with the control mechanics, move sets, and combo system. So ea bring back the button options.

Does anybody remember the days when a game would come out and it would take you a bit of practice to get the hango of the controls? But once you did, it was absolutely awesome and you could school anyone who had never played the game before... that is until they practice and come back to kick your ass. yeah, sorry, but I liked those times. Seriously it isnt that hard to learn. Since when do people decide "I will not buy" or "I will not even play this game" because they have a predisposition against the control scheme. You guys are stubborn and hard-headed to think that youre too good for that "crappy" control scheme, and to think that its your "Right" as a gamer to have the controls changed to appease your personal preferences.

  • shoelaces-4-all

    Posted Jul 5, 2009 3:49 am PT

ive never in all my years playing video games seen a bunch of people being soooo whiny about a control system, let alone one that actually works, just like this one does. The controls are perfect, it requires a bit more skill to properly throw and land the punches that you want to. That should be a good thing. Is everyone just too lazy to learn a new method? Since when do people decide not to play an amazing game bcause of a perfectly functional control system. Most people's description of how poor the control system works is something along the lines of " crappy and inaccurate control scheme" or "Its lame and un realistic". Now please tell me, what is convinving about their arguements? "crappy" and "lame"? That is just mindless name calling. "Unrealistic"? Seriously? how is mashing the face buttons realistic? The chosen directions on the analog are actually logically placed sirs. Grow yourselves some brains or something seriously. Oh and one referred to it as "Inaccurate", again, unless your controller is broken, then it is YOU who is inaccurate.

  • shoelaces-4-all

    Posted Jul 5, 2009 3:25 am PT

    PrestonPastorek
hey, the analog control is only inaccurate if you push it in the wrong direction. Its you thats inaccurate sir. Your inaccuracy is then reflected in the game. So if you cant use the joystick right, you wont do what you want, which would be bad. If you do use it right, you will be rewarded. Its really easy to use... maybe some practice is in order. The only reason your analog stick would be inaccurate is 1-It is broken, or 2-you arent good at using it ACCURATELY.

I gave the game a 8.5. If definitely worth buying. I love just about everything in the game. Like the reviewer says though, there are pros and cons.

Pros: Great graphics and sound. You can create, export and import boxers from XBox Live. Legacy mode is much deeper now. Tyson was finally added. Online has been improved over FNR3. Collision was fixed, so bodies bang when in close and punches can be slipped and dodged realistically now. Punches can be queued up, which can also be a Con in some cases. Lots of quality boxers in all major weight classes. -------------------------------------------------------
Cons: Counter punching favors the CPU just about every time and don't always work for your boxers. I slipped, dodge and blocked punch perfectly and never get the counter like the CPU. The CPU counters punches with blocks even when their defense was always up. I counted my counters in one match and had about 40, yet I only got about 15. Training games are too difficult, mainly because the scores to get champion is too high when you begin. Scores should have been lowered by at least 1/3. Because I did terrible with the training. I was ranked 21 with an overall rating of 69, but had to fight boxers who were 87 rating or higher and ranked 18-20. My ranking shouldn't climb that fast until my rating is close to the other boxers in that rank. Even if you fight lower ranked boxers, your rank will usual increase, which it shouldn't. The game isn't perfect, but still very fun.

button mashing is cheating so i prefer if its not available this time, but i don't think they made the graphics much better, the first time i played fight night 3 i couldn't believe how realistic it was but now i feel like the graphics are inferior to the ones in other games

The game would have been way better if it had button support I hate all games that use the analog stick to do everything. Skate, Skate 2, Tony Hawk now, FN4, etc. It should give players the choice at least instead of forcing them to use these crappy and inaccurate control scheme.

I didn't expect this review to be so low; I'm a bit shocked. I'm one those button users who was very disappointed at what EA has done. I understand the game doesn't play perfect right out the box, but there are sliders for you to play around that can impact game play. I'm anti EA and I never liked the company for what they've done with their games. You have to give this game a try with my sliders. They are ground breaking and will ultimately change your view about the game. Once EA decides stamina is a factor and add a slider in via DLC; then you'll have one of the best sports games of the year. Go to the FNR4 forums and check out Ank & Ben's Champion Simulation Sliders. You won't be disappointed.
