Lost Odyssey pushed to 2007

Mistwalker's second Xbox 360 RPG delayed; Blue Dragon still on track for release this year.

TOKYO--The phrases "Japanese Xbox 360 role-playing game" and "Hironobu Sakaguchi" have practically become synonymous during the course of the past year, as the former Square producer has been developing a trio of new RPGs that are exclusive to Microsoft's new system. Almost every Xbox 360 meeting in Japan has featured an appearance by Sakaguchi, and today's press conference was no exception. While the Mistwalker president didn't unveil anything earth-shattering, he did give updates on his previously announced projects, including a slip in the release date for Lost Odyssey.

While his second Xbox 360 may be a little further off than expected, Sakaguchi revealed that development on his first Xbox 360 game, Blue Dragon, is right on track for a release by the end of the year.

"We're right in the middle of development right now," Sakaguchi said of Blue Dragon. "It's hectic every day. Even today, I have to go to the studio to attend the voice recording right after I finish talking here."

He added, "It's a pretty rare case, but Blue Dragon's development is progressing very smoothly. It can already run on the Xbox 360 [in real time] with things such as the battle phases and event scenes connected together... During the next few months, we'll be working on the stage direction [of events and scenes] and balancing the game."

On the other hand, Lost Odyssey still has a ways to go, and its release is slated for 2007. Sakaguchi will release a demo of the game in the summer or fall, which will feature about 20 minutes of the opening sequence. Sakaguchi said he showed the game's character designer Takehiko Inoue an incomplete version of the opening scene, which was met with positive feedback.

Sakaguchi is also working on a third project for the Xbox 360 named Cry On, which will be an action RPG codeveloped with AQ Interactive. With Sakaguchi focusing on the finalization of Blue Dragon now, no new information on the game was disclosed during the press conference.

Common the only way we can make devs like square enix will make ff on x360 is by supporting great games like lost odyssey and blue dragon. So all we need now is a way to get MGS 4 on 360 but it seems like it will be easier than expected. lol With the gigantic pricetag of PS3 it would not surpise me to see MGS 4 port over to the 360 to get decent sales on the game... lol.. Sony lost my interest since playstation 2 and I'm done with Nintendo ever since Gamecube killed my love for nintendo. I sold my Gamecube 6 months after I got the thing. I was dissapointed by the crappy games and poor overall quality of hardware and software. I have been an Xbox man ever since. They have a bunch of great quality games and of course a few dissapointing games.... But who doesn't make a few bad games ? Every platform does... With the kind of origionality that is on the horizon for xbox 360 is makin me exited and anxious to get my hands on those titles. (JRPG) I know many of you have been complaing about them being methodical but you have to remember these games aren't FFXXXIII. These are origional (JRPGS). So if you want something different out of Japan, here is your chance to voice yourself. Buy these games and support the work of these brave Japanese devs. They are betting big time with x360 so give them the support they need so we can keep getting support from Japan!

    @Manatassi

I didn't know stupid people like that really existed lol

    ps: Oblivion is action/adventure ( also on ps3 )
Mass efect: we know almost nothing on this
    Enchanted arms= japanese
    blue dragon= japanese
    phantasy star=japanese
Fable 2= more action adventure ( zelda style )
Elvion doesn't look really great ( also on ps3 )
two worlds = looking bad, made by a small team
far east of eden=looks good, but anyway japanese
lost odyssey=same dev then blue dragon, so jap too

so all the good... no all RPGs are japanese!!! oblivion and fable are the only rpg/action that worked well... and ps: for an action rpg just buy things like kingdom hearts! for RPGs buy mistwalkers, square-enix, from software, konami, capcom, and midway!! ( all japs devs )

so....what the heck is this game about and where does it take place?
I'm probably going to get a Playstation 3 because i still like that selection of games much better overall. (Final Fantasy XIII) Though this system looks pretty cool.

hmm well 360 seems to be home to the best in american and european developed RPG's which ae far superior to the old stale formula of the JRPG.

that said Oblivion, Mass efect ,Enchanted arms, blue dragon, phantasy star, Fable 2, Elvion, two worlds , far east of eden, lost odyssey...

hardly constitutes a lack of Rpg's

you right, it came out wrong sorry, but they had trained Qith Mistwalker under Hironobu Sakaguchi to release RPG only on 360. We may see Sakaguchi working with Sony too some time soon .but right now, I think his going to be making games for for the 360..

Eclipse_ShinRa, Sakaguchi did NOT leave SE to work for Microsoft. He left to form his own company and so he could have more creative freedom and work more directly with his games. It just happens to be that he sees more potential in the 360 than any of the other next-gen systems right now. That DOES NOT mean Mistwalker will remain exclusive however. Yes, sad news about Lost Odyssey but its ok as long as they REALLY give Blue Dragon focus and release that on time and up to expectations.

A god is making this game, lol quit square to work of MS XD..anyway...I'm not a fan noob of elther.. I just play games, no matter what system there on. I systems dont matter, I may like Sony more though BUT.. Im glad to see MS getting some kick ass RPG this time and PS3 some good FPS..

Good so see MS trying this time In Japan..I hate MS, but I own there systemXD..but like i said..Games matter not the system..

adn I really think Square-Enix at E3 well show some RPG for the 360 too..I hears rumors of some, I hope its ture..but I 100% know Square-Enix will have more RPG on the 360, may not be FF, but it well be RPGs..and Square makes so kick ass RPGs, so MS going to have tons of tons of RPG this time..thats really good..

Well Mistwalker may be one of the few make or break factors to my decision to purchase a X360 here in Japan. Hope Blue Dragon pumps me up for possibly my first MS console and Lost Odyssey. Will still wait and see. As of current the Rev and the PS3 is still a safe bet for someone like myself that's living in Japan. There's still a possibility of owning all three though based on current trend of decent MS acquisitions of Japanese games for their currently lukewarm console.

I just hope I don't need to be tripping to comprehend the storylines, like most JRPGs.
