Final Fantasy XIII arriving spring 2010

E3 2009: Square Enix narrows release window on long-awaited role-playing game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3.

LOS ANGELES--At last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the biggest news out of Microsoft's media briefing was that Square Enix was bringing the next installment of its longtime Sony-exclusive Final Fantasy series to the Xbox 360 simultaneously with the PlayStation 3.

This year's Microsoft conference hosted another bit of Final Fantasy XIII news. Square Enix's Yoshinore Kitase announced that the developer is targeting a spring 2010 North American launch of the game. Kitase also showed off a bit of gameplay from the upcoming role-playing game. Attendees were treated to a look at the game's battle system, in which rebel protagonists Suds and Lightning fought a persistent robotic boss, which ultimately felt the wrath of the summon attack Odin.

    mehh 12 was mediocre from old Final fantasy standards. 13 we'll wait and see but I have no hopes for it. If you guys really wanna know why FF is so HUGE. Play FF V - X

    i been an avided xbox fan since they came out and never played final fantasy before, untill i went round to my mates house and he was playin FF12 and let me have a go!!!
    24hrs of him lettin me mess around on it and i was hooked!!! since then i became slightly more than addicted to rpgs! Oblivion Elder scrolls, fallout and im even tempted to buy lost oddessy!!!!
    But the fact that FF13 is comin out on 360 is awesome!!!! i can wait its a shame that its such along wait does any one have an idea roughtly when its released!!!!!

    i'm a final fantasy fiend! this game won't be out for a while but i will wait patiently cuz when it comes out i will be getting it first day it comes out!! this one definitely seems to be well worth the wait. could easily be one of the best games of ALL-TIME! you read it correctly. wish i could go to japan to get it beforehand but wouldn't understand. haha.

    yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee finally. i was hoping it'd neva say if it was coming for sure. coz there were the maybes which i dnt like. prefer a deffinate answer. GoGaToR07. it'll be approx £50 right? i mean FFXII for ps2 was like £37.asian pride. i strongly agree with u on that. FFs have been for many years the best games in those years.

    the fact that this game has been set back about 3 times now kinda makes me mad, first it was supposed to be out apr 09 then apr 10 and now it won't be out until dec 10 that is over a years and a half away. I love square enix they put out alot of good games and final fantasy is my favorite of all time. with how many times they have set this game back I have no doubt that it might be the best final fantasy ever made

    @lukemularczyk: Wrong. Porting isn't just as translating. The english voice casting was started when the Xbox 360 dev kit wasn't even delivered to SE. Really I don't care if it was ported to the xbox but what I hate is that I have to wait for it to be ported so I can play it on my PS3 when I could have played it earlier just because of marketing rubbish.

    No its not, they started the translation work early but its still nowhere near ready on the ps3 for a us release, thye gotta trasnlate everything, test it , most likely fix anything that shows bugs after the jp release.

    you are not waiting for the ps3 release because of this, normally it takes a year for the US versions to come out after the JP release so tis about the same ammount of time!

    @gameking5000 - Technically, FF is on the Wii with FF Crystal Chronicles. But FFXIII on the Wii would be a load of crap. I'm kind of glad they're waiting till next year to release it. It lets me know they're not rushing things.
