Almost two months after Rock Band 2 arrived in stores, Harmonix released the promised 20 free songs online. The "emerging artist lineup" can be downloaded by redeeming the code that shipped with all new copies of Rock Band 2. A complete list of songs can be found here.

    Kratosclone1 - "But rock band did copy the GH guitar setup"

    Rock Band is made by the same developer who created the original Guitar Hero 1 & 2. Of course it uses the same system.

    Harmonix left Activision because they wanted to do something BIGGER than just guitars, but Activision wanted to play it safe. So they went their seperate ways. Activision then hired the team from the Tony Hawk franchise to continue Guitar Hero, and used Harmonix own franchise *they* started, against them.

    But this instead of GH world tour. All it did was copy the rock band series!

    I'm not sure if Guitar Hero is better then Rock Band, but Rock Band sure is more authentic! With a better looking guitar and Drums!

    i can't decide on getting RB or GH... and quite frankly everybody seems to be praising both of them and pissing on both of them at the same time. guess the best thing to do is NOT BUY EITHER! and cameron, you don't rule. your literacy is $#!t and i believe the last time people were really saying yo at the end of their statements was back in the early 90's.

    @cameronrules36

    I agree but Guitar hero world tour had really bad songs too

    Posted Apr 22, 2009 11:58 am PT

    gh is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, no offnece to anyone who like Rock Band, but the songs are just a repeat of the smae notes, or are boring, or just copies of Gh songs yo.

    I bought both games, and they are no different (only just a few gameplay tweaks in both games). I don't understand the competition at all.

    @CreatureRising
    Whilst i agree rb is better than gh, without Konami there would be no rb/gh
    with Konami some other game devs would of come up with a rhythm game in some form

    RB is ten times better.....the notes in guitar hero are all round and cartoon looking and jagged...rock band just looks and feels 100 times better and the drums are better and the guitar actually has solo buttons

    I have to say shame to people Say GH is better then RB well heres NEWS TO YOU! Harmonix made GH I mean for heavens sake you are pretty much shaming the creators of the game. Put like this If there was no Harmonix there would be no GH or RB.

    so, can anyone tell me if the tap ons and pull offs are stupidly hard to differentiate between the normal notes like rockband1?
    i find i can do any solo on expert on GH:WT but i can barely manage the hard solos in rock band1 because you cna't tell what buttons are the tap on/pull offs. it's the only reason i hate this game.

    I bought GHWT for the recording studio (song creator), which turned out to suck majorly, so the one thing in my opinion that could have set the two games apart really well, turned out to be lousy. While the track list doesn't suck in GHWT, it's about on par with what is in RB2. The drum kit in GHWT looks like a fisher price toy at best and I wonder with all that plastic on the drum head deck, why didn't they include a cup holder too. It seriously looks cheap and childish, granted RB2's drum set doesn't look super professional either, but I'd be less embarassed to have friends over when I'd fogotten to put away the drum kit if it's the RB2 drum kit.

    Avatar customization? Who the hell really cares about this? I don't have time to stare at my avatar on the screen when Im playing either game and the small amount of time I do see him I have no feelings one way or another about it. GHWT should have spent the programming dollars on their song creator instead of on making elaborate egg head shaped avatars in my opinion.

    Clearly the winner this time around is Rockband 2, no matter how much I wish that were reversed, unless Activision can do something about that poor song recording studio, then this version is just another version that will be remembered as "that music/rythem game that had that sh*** recording studio".

    I own both RB2 and GHWT, and I'd rather play RB1 than GHWT. I brought both of them to my sisters dorm and we had some people over and played GHWT first for about 30 minutes. We decided to put RB2 and ended up playing it 5 hours. And please other GHWT owners, stop talking about the music createor. The songs made on it sound horrible and aren't even worth playing. Besides, I've purchased about 250 DLC songs that, as you would guess, are alot more enjoyable. My GHWT guitar was broken out of the box and it took me about two months just to figure out how to send it in. Activision has some of the worst customer support ever. I traded my friend for his RB2 equipment and I've been happy ever since. Activision, E

    i thot gh4 wud be better but now i like rock band way better... rock band drum = better, since you can get more symbols for rb2. The ghwt guitar is better thoh... but rock band just has a better feel to it. The art style is better and it better tour and songs. And the songmaker in ghwt SUKS!
