Xbox Live Vision released, XBL parlor games patched

Microsoft's new camera peripheral for the Xbox 360 is now available at retail for about $40. Four Xbox Live Arcade titles also gain camera support for online play.

The Xbox Live Vision is in stores today, according to an announcement by Microsoft. This camera peripheral for the Xbox 360 adds real-time video-chat functionality to the Xbox Live service, along with various other features, including in-game support in current and upcoming titles. A paid Xbox Live Gold membership is required to take advantage of the video-chat functionality.

The camera ships as part of two different bundles. The $39 version includes the camera, an Xbox 360 headset, and the games UNO and TotemBall. The $79 Xbox Live Vision Gold Pack includes a yearlong Xbox Live Gold subscription, 200 Microsoft Points that can be spent on Xbox Live Marketplace content, and Robotron 2084, in addition to the headset and other two titles.

Furthermore, Microsoft announced that on September 20, four Xbox Live Arcade titles will be automatically updated to include support for the new camera. These include Bankshot Billiards 2, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades, and Hardwood Backgammon. Up till now, the Xbox Live Arcade version of UNO was the only game to include camera support.

Sony has the eyetoy, and you could sen a pic away to gt it made for your cfhars on different games. Tony Hawk games had that feature. NEver really took off tho. this is a much better presentation of this feature.

whats all this about microsoft copying?! why, did another console already have live person to person online video chat? if so then who. and if i understand right Sony is the one who loves to copy ideas, if you notice they are trying to copy both Xbox's and nintendo's individual strongpoints with xbox live and motion sensing.

Who cares if Microsoft copied the general idea, if nobody copied in the videogame world we would only have one game, and there would not being any remote controls or rumble functions because we would all be playing on our little circular monitors playing the original video game, fox and hound.

P.S. If you only like one platform, don't call yourself a gamer, because you obviously don't have enough experience.

Got my camera today from GameStop in Houston, TX. TotemBall was not included. It came with a headset, a month of XBL Gold and a code for downloading UNO. No TotemBall, tho.

    Where's the dang download?

There is nothing wrong with copying because it just means we get more features. Whose to say Microsoft havent been working on this for years anyway so it doesnt matter who came up with the idea or brought it to the public first its who makes it best and only time will tell who will win that and the same goes to all the Ninendo fanboys who say Sony copied the controller. Tho only thing i care about is which company does the best with the idea.

Uhhhhhh, I didn't get mine yesterday. Gamestop didn't get any in so I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart. Not only did they not have them, but they ALL looked at me like I was stupid. None of them had even heard of a xbox 360 camera. Talk about frustrating. Now I don't even know when it's going to come out. Why can't the video game insustry get it right for a change. We spend a lot of money on this stuff, more than dvds and cds, and we get the shaft. Ok, that makes complete sense. (sarcasm)

Yea, and again I own a 360 so how am I a fanboy again? Oh it only happens to be today that I posted on the new events. I'm not the biased fanboy who only owns games from the XBox. And yea you tried hard to prove a point of copying there...sad.

Wow! Goes to show that Microsoft is a copycat.

Sony didn't copy the PC idiots, they brought it over to the their game console and put innovation.

Wow, thats funny, cause like sony invented video games right? I mean they didn't copy or steal anything from Nintendo right? Funny thats not how I remember it... You know ciryorgirl, for a sony fanboy you spend a lot of time in MS topics...sad.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Xbox Live is a great service. Microsoft can't very well run it for free. It's frequently updated, free downloadable demos, voice chat, and multi-player. You think paying for that isn't worth it, you can go somewhere else.
