Update: Game Update
Posted: Dec 19, 2008 11:41 am PT
A recent update that purportedly "improves AI balance to adjust dynamically to user skill level" appears to primarily affect the AI early in the game. Things feel slightly less punishing as a result, but there are still several unaddressed issues that conspire to make the game more difficult than it should be.

There's a lot of cool feautrues in here that other racing games don't have. I would buy it just for this reason.

    EMP EMP!!!

Reminds me of MC3 with agro, zone, and roar I personally never use the 3 but it is sometimes cool in certain situations, I don't like the addition of the EMP, it reminds me of MC3 multiplayer where you could do all those really cool (fake) tricks. MC3 is and always will be better than NFS, at one point I thought MC3 was the end but that was years ago, LONG LIVE MC4

Super Power?!.....NEVER MIND I don't want the game after all....

I don´t care about the NFS series, Rockstar Games is a lifestyle. The attention to details, the smooth way their graphic engine run and the feel of realism sets every competition of NFS series out of function. They just proved it once again with GTA 4. Any questions? Well, check the sales numbers.

NFS just don´t have the it, still a good substitude, but no way near the technical level of the Rockstar engine.

...and why spend the same amount of money on the second best in business?

It will be optional, like MC3, I personally hate the power ups.

can I disable these features if I dont want them? cause it makes the game awkward...

  • siLVURcross

    Posted Oct 12, 2008 1:35 pm PT

Oh and in order to use those skills, you either need to do certain things:
Zone - Drive really well without hitting anything.
Agro - Hit a lot of things.
Roar - Not sure..I think it's the same for Zone.
    EMP - Who knows.

Oh and the type of skills is dependent on the type of car, I.E, trucks will have Agro while bikes will have Roar and tuners will have Zone etc. So it's not like picking up an item and using the skill.

If you've played MC3, you'll know just how useful they are in a race where there's no set track and there's oncoming traffic.

  • siLVURcross

    Posted Oct 12, 2008 1:33 pm PT

Ha, the only real useful skill would probably be Zone, especially in the races where sharp turns are extremely annoying because of traffic. EMP might be interesting though.

those moves would be really annoying in multiplayer and so cheap....sure maybe in single player but those moves are horribly cheap ways to win.

With the amount of customising I've been reading you can do and the way the game is played (free roaming GTA style) I really don't think the special abilities are going to ruin the game.

Like Kieser said. You can choose not to use them.

  • Sony_Patriot

    Posted Sep 28, 2008 7:19 pm PT

Luckily the only way that these features come available is if you install them into your car.

who drives around with an EMP in their car?

    hahahaha

  • touree

    Posted Sep 28, 2008 4:37 am PT

Seriously this game is getting better and better, the inside view looks awesome and the speed sense of the game looks sweet also by them showing the 1971 Lamborghini Miura S and the 2009 Challenger SRT8, shows that they are gonna have a ranged variety of cars in game and that's just the cars. I can't wait to see how much customization they added to the Motorcycles, I mean if you can go that detail in the customization of the inside of the cars, imagine what you can do with motorcycles. Don't forget that Dub Edition also had trucks and SUV in the game.
I can't wait to get my hands on this.
P.S. I wonder if the vehicle damage is gonna be as in-depth as GRID?

  • Kieser

    Posted Sep 27, 2008 8:14 am PT

well guys they had this in the midnight club dub edition too...and you could only use them on single player. and you can choose to use them or not.

why oh why? =( it was all looking so good.and for some reason someone decided to ruin a game that looked pretty good. now i am really wondering if i will have to get undercover instead.

  • setonj18

    Posted Sep 23, 2008 1:31 pm PT

yea i totally agree with oneofthefall, i think EMP and roar is something you would find in a Burger King game like Pocketbike racer

  • oneofthefall

    Posted Sep 23, 2008 5:25 am PT

i hope you can turn some of the features off like roar and EMP, but slow mo could have its advantages for awesome replays (that's if the game even allows replays) but yeah theres definitely no sim factor to this game its pure arcadey but theres nothing wrong with a good Arcade from time to time, but thats if the Devs do it right! I Think this is more for the Hardcore Midnight Club Fan & im not 1 of them, but if the features can be turned on/off then ill buy this, the interior customization got me interested and the Cockpit View, but this trailer turns me off a bit,

amazing they have the lamborghini muira in it!!

and whoever posted the comment that they thought this would be realistic obviously doesnt undertsand the term realistic. And midnight has always been better than NFS.

king gev 321, u are right, midnight club has been always on top of nfs, nfs makes racing feel wierd, when mc makes it fun! and it has bikes....

NO!!!!!!!! WHy did they bring back the arcade like powers? This game is totally uninteresting to me now. The open world street racing, customization and interior view was just perfect and more than enough.

mignight club la is way better than nfs, 2 reasons 1-rockstar makes it 2-bikes r in it lol wat else can u want. nfs is gonna b wak u can tell by the trailers, if u look at them u can tell there is nothing new (cops an robbers gameplay) wit midnight club at least no u can choose ur special ability, point blank midnight club la is betta

Zetona's right, but we play Midnight Club because it did it first, and it did it better.

And when I say it, I am referring to open world racing.

I don't like how in NFS, when you join a race, you're automatically enclosed in a track.

    It's ridiculous.

Car customization is essential now, but the way MC games are set up, with check points and the whole "find your own route and win at all costs," really provides more freedom when it comes to the whole racing portion of the game.

  • blacksaibot

    Posted Sep 22, 2008 12:57 pm PT

Well stated Zetona. Like I said before, Midnight Club series aim to be an arcade racer. NOT A RACING SIMULATION.

  • Zetona

    Posted Sep 22, 2008 12:30 pm PT

Those who are talking about getting NFS Undercover over this because of it's lack of realism: Remember that NFS isn't exactly the most realistic racing series ever either, what with Speedbreaker slowing down time, cars that can ram through heavy SUVs, and exploding gas stations. Neither series promises realism, and we play them exactly because you can do ridiculous stunts that you can't do in real life.

I love midnight clubs customization thats why i am going to get it, not for its realism

I think its fun to escape the limitations of the real world, thats why its a game right?
