    sorry lol god of war 3 is the best fighting/action game ever but they should make this a xbox exclusive cuz xbox does not really have any fighting/action games to compete with god of war. and this game copies gow3 in many ways with the giant monsters and a story that revolves around hell but either way im getting them both

    I'd almost want to use the poem as a walkthrough.

    @DonatelloToAll

    Um... Have you heard of Paradise Lost? The looooongest poem ever... still slowly reading it and analyzing . I haven't read the Divine Comedy yet but I think it's like Paradise Lost, it's a book but the whole thing is a poem. A book doesn't have to be a 'book' or what i think you're implying is Novel.

    Don't forget DarkSiders. I'm sort of basing the competition on storyline first, they all seem to be surrounding the supernatural. Don't know about gameplay yet

    @Shinkada If they make the game for both consoles they gain more money.. this is my opinion

  • Shinkada

    @dont_know_2

    Why the hell should one console get all the games of one genre or style? Since PS3 has God of War, it makes MORE sense that this should be on 360, as competition.

    Honestly. In an ideal world every game would be on both consoles so that the consoles would be competing purely on their own merits and not just who buys/owns more companies/branches, but until then we can at least hope that when one console gets an advantage, the other gets a rival.

    PS3 got Resistance to combat Halo/Gears, then Killzone. MS got Enchant Arms and Blue Dragon and other nonsense to combat FF - even if that did end up multi platform. Granted the rivals are usually utterly inferior, but still.

    tl;dr: Since GoW3 is PS3 exclusive, it makes MORE sense for this to be on 360, not less.

    I'm a student in latin literatureand ive translated the whole thing and ican tell you that the game looks damn good; just like the poem. Yep its a poem, not a book, wel its quite a common mistake people make. It's basically like a 140000 lines - poem, all in rimes and such. But really, that game is looking epic.

    Looks to be a pretty exciting concept, I can't wait to hear more news about this one. Maybe they will have a update for us all at the E3 event thats rapidly approaching. Either way I was always facinated by Dante's inferno so I hope they do a great job on this and produce something epic.

    People are saying it reminds GoW, of course it does. They`re doing the same thing in a different way. GoW uses Greek Mythology as a reference, just like this one uses the Divine comedy. Mechs and etc... is up to game developers, let`s wait and see. Like Domiago said.....has some serious potential.

  • Domiago

    Posted May 3, 2009 12:20 pm PT

    has some serious potential. i like the idea, hope its gonna be as good as God of War but hopefully in its own way :]

    all you people who are saying that the game makers are destroying the poem are not paying attention to what the guy is saying. he explicitly stated that it was THEIR interpretation of the poem. he also said OUR dante, meaning that it is there spin on the original. ps i wonder if virgil will be in the game??

    I'm either getting it on the psp or 360.
    I can't decide!!
    I'll wait to see how the psp turns out.

    Interesting. Yes I see the GoW idea similarities, but I don't mind it too much. I mean I doubt any of that was actual gameplay footage, but it seems like it has potential to be a solid game. And I've never read the Divine Comedy or whatever it's called. Just make sure the game doesn't suck. That's all I'm here for.

    Can't wait for more news about it.

    I'm not normally a fan of the genre but i think this game might just be good. Ive read the Divine Comedy and it'll be interesting to see what they've done with it. And no offense elven82 but it would be EXTREMELY hard to make this game exactly to Dante's inferno, the game would be kind of sucky.

  • boyinthahood

    Posted Apr 27, 2009 5:58 pm PT

    Ha! I wonder if there will be anything in this game that would presumable land the producers on the heresy level.

    "Salad bar of enemies." I do wish they had stuck more to the original story, but it wouldn't make for good action. Maybe create a completely new character to send to hell. Still a ways out though.

    I've been gaming over 20 years and always looking for the game to recreate Dante's Inferno.. the ones Ive seen that even tried were horribly short sighted & cheap attemps that were just horrible. Every one of the visions in this interview blew me away doing the exact style I hope to see spread throughout the game. Honestly Ive never seen anything even close to it. And to those that mention GOW.. your being just as short sighted as all the rest Ive seen. GOW takes place in a totally different realm than Dantes Inferno, and is much more reminiscent of greek mythology which Ive seen done to death. Im really interested in seeing more of this game.

    Elven82, please don't EVER visit this site again. This is not a site dedicated to literature or the understanding of literature. This is not a site dedicated to complaining about the similiarities of every game and GoW. This is a site for interested Gamers searching for new titles that interest them or old games that they think they might enjoy, but would like a second opinion about. Yes, this game's story will not follow the Divine Comedy word for word. If it did the game would be a 20 hr CG movie that you press X/A 400 times during to move the dialogue along as Dante walks around and talks to Hell's residents. ShadowBladeX, you're one of the few people on this site that I can say Thank you to. And for everyone of you that has said the comment "This game is exactly like GoW" then eat your fist. point #1. The game is still a year away from being published. A YEAR. A FULL 12 MONTH YEAR. point #2. The only thing we have seen from this game is CG. If we judged every game by their first CG trailer then Final Fantasy XIII is obviously going to be a 3rd person shooter action adventure game (And we all know THAT ain't true). Point #3. Play more games than GoW. Yes i know it was fun and i know that everybody that owns a ps2 has played it. But seriously, if you played other games you'd know that GoW isn't the end all game of the century that nothing can compare to and that all games copy. Honestly GoW isn't even my favorite game, not in the top 5 either. There are plenty of games that can stack up to and beat GoW. GoW also isn't COMPLETELY UNDENIABLY original in all aspects. That simply isn't true. GoW borrowed some aspects from other games just like all games do. If that weren't a common truth then there'd only be one game with a pause menu and only one other where your character can jump, etc. So lets all shut our mouths until Dante's Inferno gets a little closer to release (maybe when they actually set a date, possibly?) and when we get actual GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE. Then you can go back to complaining about how it's a carbon copy of GoW.
