Splinter Cell: Conviction locks up CE - Retail Radar

Australian retailer lists limited-edition package for Ubisoft's oft-delayed stealth action adventure, includes figurine, Chaos Theory download, comic, more.

After many delays, Splinter Cell: Conviction got a firm release date on the Xbox 360 and PC last week, when Ubisoft announced that the Tom Clancy-inspired stealth action adventure would debut February 23. Ubisoft will apparently be commemorating the game's launch with a special-edition package, if a product listing for a Splinter Cell: Conviction Collector's Edition in Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi's online database is to be believed.

According to the listing, the special-edition Splinter Cell: Conviction package has many of the customary pack-ins associated with premium game bundles. Namely, the Collector's Edition includes a "making of" DVD, a 32-page comic book that recounts the intervening in-game period between 2006's well-received Splinter Cell Double Agent and Conviction, as well as exclusive in-game content.

That's not all, though, because the product listing indicates that the Collector's Edition will also include a figurine of grizzled protagonist Sam Fisher. As one more added perk, the package will apparently also include a free download for 2005's well-rated Splinter Cell Chaos Theory through Xbox Live, which is otherwise available for 1,200 MSP ($15).

The Xbox 360 version of the Splinter Cell: Conviction Collector's Edition pack is currently listed for A$119.00 ($103), with the PC installment falling in at A$99.00 ($86). However, it is worth noting that Australian games often bear a substantial markup. Ubisoft North America reps had not responded to GameSpot's request for additional details and pricing information for the Collector's Edition as of press time.

I can see all the jealous ps3 fanboys coming in to troll, but obviously ps3 isn't that great if they think trolling is more fun than playing it.

God damn it not another collectors edition with nothing but digital content and a crap figurine!

Seriously, developers, take a note from Blaz Blue THAT'S how you do a collectors edition.

Am glad i have both consoles,......so am not missing out on Conviction which is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Would advise a Ps3 only Gamer/Fanboy to play Conviction at a friends place when it's released.

danleeah: I don't consider myself a fanboy as I own both systems and have played Uncharted, Infamous, Gears of War, Halo, etc. etc. but what you are saying about Uncharted is just not true...I mean, as far as my experience with it went anyhow. It was a short game and it had some serious flaws, some of which took me completely out of the experience. At times I would run to one part of the map and the camera would try skip to a scene, but if I moved the stick at all, which would happen automatically because I would be running before the scene began, the camera would just fall through the map and get stuck there. It was impossible for me to progress. This didn't happen very often, but it did happen a total of three times (in different spots, mind you) where I had to restart my game and pick up an entire checkpoint back. Otherwise, Uncharted was an enjoyable, if a little unoriginal, game. I don't see how anyone could say it had a good story though. Really, there's no depth there. Halo truly does have a better story than Uncharted ever will...Uncharted was just a mix of Tomb Raider + Indiana Jones + The Descent + Gears of Wars' cover system and that was the original Uncharted. It didn't really do anything new at all. So anyway, I'm just going to have to disagree with you man...Uncharted is NOT one of the most amazing games ever, fanboy or not, and if you feel like it is than this is probably your first generation of videogames.

As this is being made by the same team that gave us the Original SC and 'Chaos Theory' (in my opinion the best 2 by far), i think its a fair bet that its gonna be brilliant, with exellent and very original cenematics and superb gameplay, i simply cant wait to get my hands on it.

I hope this game turns out better than the last one. It was good but It could of been way better. I have both systems so I can laugh at you all bickering over who has better exclusives. The 360 has had the edge for a while but I can see the ps3 having better exclusives. Not many 360 fanboys got to play uncharted. Uncharted is one of the most amazing games ever. From what I have read part 2 is one of the most polished titles ever.

@sirelfblood, yeah the PS3 does have a few good first party titles but some are easily forgotton. I only know Uncharted and GT5, the rest I've never even heard of. The 360 has a good couple but most are out next year mainly Alan Wake.

It's not really fair to say the ps3 hasn't got many good exclusives coming up; uncharted 2, MAG, gran turismo 5, god of war 3, heavy rain, the last guardian (team ICO!), quantum theory etc. so, the old 'ps3 has no exclusives' argument is a bit tired. of course, i still want splinter cell conviction

I still have my original copy of chaos theory - it's def my favorite in the entire series. Conviction looks awesome, can't wait to check it out, but i won't pick up CE - they should add some other extras for the standard $10 spike.
