Splinter Cell: Conviction due Feb. 23 on 360, PC

Oft-delayed next outing of Sam Fisher finally gets hard release date for North America; due out same month in UK and EU; DS edition MIA.

In September 2006, Microsoft announced that it had locked down Xbox 360 and PC exclusivity for the next Splinter Cell game. Now, after multiple delays and extensive technical tinkering, that game finally has a date. To help promote its presence at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, Ubisoft announced that Splinter Cell: Conviction will ship in North America on February 23, 2010. (The DS spin-off was not mentioned in the announcement.) It will ship during the same month in the UK and the rest of the European Union.

Conviction is set two years after Splinter Cell: Double Agent, which saw series hero Sam Fisher become a fugitive from the FBI, NSA, and Interpol. In the course of investigating his daughter's death, the now-unkempt Fisher discovered that his former employer, the covert organization Third Echelon, has double-crossed him. Avoiding capture, he travels to Washington, DC, to uncover the conspiracy that led to his undeserved disgrace.

Luckily, being on the run doesn't stop Fisher from employing his stealth and combat skills to foil a mysterious--and potentially catastrophic--terrorist threat. It also frees up the former commando from nonlethal rules of engagement, allowing him to kill foes with a variety of ranged and melee methods. To see Splinter Cell: Conviction's deadly skill set and new look in action, investigate the brand-new hands-on video preview below.

An Nvidia Geforce GTX 280m Graphics card alone is more than an Xbox 360 Elite console. My point was that any computer that can even play the games on 360 at full capacity, will cost a crap load. A laptop with that card and an i& processor will ru somewhere around $2000.... I could but a 360 with 3 extra controllers and like 25 games for that price... lol

@kevin8se7en... um no.. my Sager would be able to run it on high settings! Nvidia GTX 280m Graphics for the win! not to mention. It also says this: locked down Xbox 360 AND PC exclusivity for the next Splinter Cell game. So not only is what you said wrong, but it's also insulting of my LAPTOP's capabilities.

All the Splinter Cell games have higher rating on the original Xbox because it had better graphics than the PS2. It simply looked a lot better and therefore deserved a better rating.

The original Xbox itself was a better console than the PS2 in my opinion but it just couldn't compete with PS2 in terms of quality games and exclusives. It's a similar case with the PS3 and 360. The PS3 is a better console in a lot of ways but the 360 continues to get better exclusives and stays on top. Graphically they are the same and most people aren't ready for blu-ray yet (only 1/3 of American's own a HDTV) so exclusives is the biggest factor and 360 has more of them and of the ones they have, they are better for the most part.

People who say it's not exclusive to 360 are idiots.

A capable graphics card alone in a PC is gonna cost more than a damn 360 and the game. Stop comparing PC and PS3 to the 360. It's either or.. not both.

I bet every person that says it's not a real exclusive doesn't even own a gaming PC capable of playing this game anyways lol.

@spotty6, if it wasn't for MS, your little PS3 wouldn't be as good as it would be. Competition is always healthy, that's how companies improve. And I'm not a fanboy I got all the consoles except the wii.
