Scarface says hello to PSP, adios to 360

Vivendi Games confirms the world is not yours on Xbox 360, lines up portable version of drug kingpin adventure--first screens inside.

Tony Montana, the antihero of Brian De Palma's Scarface, never settled for just a piece of the pie. He wanted the filling, the crust, the tin, and the whole bakery in his quest to dominate the Miami drug trade.

Now it seems as though Montana's digital counterpart is also expanding his empire. Vivendi Games today announced that Scarface is headed to the PSP in early October. However, it will be an entirely different game from its console counterparts.

Titled Scarface: Power. Money. Respect., the game will combine turn-based strategy with real-time combat. Would-be kingpins will try to take over the drug trade in 1983 Miami by eliminating rival cartels turf by turf. The game will have two main modes--a story-driven single-player mode and a wireless multiplayer mode that supports up to four crime lords.

While Scarface has spread out onto the PSP, it appears that another crime family from the entertainment business has taken over the turf war on the Xbox 360. After a prolonged period of confusion surrounding Scarface: The World is Yours' appearance on next-gen systems (a 360 version of the game was confirmed in May 2005, but has since fallen off of online retailer lists), a Vivendi Games rep confirmed to GameSpot that the game is not headed to the Xbox 360.

Just yesterday, THQ announced that the Xbox 360 version of The Sopranos was no longer in the works. With both The Sopranos and Scarface out of the next-gen picture, Electronic Arts' The Godfather remains the only option for TV/movie-inspired crime-family drama on the Xbox 360.

Scarface: The World is Yours is scheduled for release on the PC, PlayStation 2, and the Xbox in early October.

    Twisted_Outlaw I agree!!

I also reckon that Scarface will come to the 360, purely because they have released themes and gamer pictures.
I hope they do as I'll be buying!

stupid PS3 and GTA fan boys. i dont know why but i believe this game is coming to the 360 considering they just released gamerpics for this game and a theme. i downloaded both of them bc im a huge fan of the movie. it was actually a decent game on xbox, and saints row is better and more action packed than any of the GTAs. only downside to saints row is they didnt have enough time to put in bikes and planes and stuff, but hey! thats what sequels are for.

Just when Xflop 360 loses a title it becomes a "crappy" game to its fanboys. Well I'm gonna check this out even though God Father is what I'm really digging!

This is excellent news. EXECELLENT NEWS.

No Scarface, no Sopranos. I was hoping that the Godfather would also join this list in the developer's graveyard.

We all know these games are going to rotten and I wasn't looking forward to another game that would be classified as another "Port Box" title.

Bring on the new IPs. Bring on Saints Row and 2 Days to Vegas. Bring on The Outsider. I know some of you have never even heard of the Outsider. Do yourself a favor and follow this link-

There are better things coming on the horizon than GTA and these other gangster redux'. Losing Scarface is no biggie.

I suppose scrapping the 360 version in favor of a vastly inferior PSP version is a good idea huh? Seeing as the PSP is just doing super.

This is good/bad news, The Xbox 360 loses another crappy game, and the PSP gets more crappy titles....Why I bought a PSP in the first place, I will never ever know....

UrbanMessiah, I completely agree with you on this story. As Han Solo said: "Let the Wookie win..."

I agree with most people on the fact that this doesn't effect 360 sales at all. I imagine both games with receive at most a 7.5 if that on the gamespot ratings. As far as games go, I think Gears of War and Saint's Row are more of a concern for just about all 360 owners. As for game_masta14, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. MS losing two low profile games doesn't even compare with Sony's marketing blunders in the past year. How can you even say that this story reflects a Sony comeback. Obviously the game isn't going to the PS3 either. So if this game was actually on your PS3 list I'm sorry to break the news to you.

For a side note, Vivendi was part of the critically acclaimed Escape from Butcher Bay game on Xbox.
