Scarface dealin' this fall

VU Games' film-to-game adaptation narrows release date for PC, PS2, Xbox editions; Next-gen versions still undercover.

What would have happened if drug kingpin Tony Montana, aka Scarface, survived the raid on his mansion at the end of Brian De Palma's Scarface? Gamers now have a better idea of when they can find out.

On VU Games subsidiary Sierra Entertainment's Web site, listings for the current-gen versions of Scarface: The World Is Yours reveal that the game is scheduled to ship this fall. Previously, the game was only designated for a "2006 release."

Online retailers, if they are to be believed, have pegged down the release date even further. EBGames.com and GameStop.com both list the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 editions as coming out in late September. Additional investigation shows that the next-generation of cursing and drug dealing may not be too far from that date. Best Buy's online site has a release date of October 4 for the Xbox 360 version.

However, those dates aren't official and could be changed. When asked for further comment about the game's release date, a rep from VU Games told GameSpot News that the final release date has not yet been set.

Scarface: The World Is Yours has not yet been rated by the ESRB. The current-generation versions of the game will retail for $49.99, and the Xbox 360 version will retail for $59.99. For more info, head over to GameSpot's exclusive preview.

    Let's face facts, people. This game will suck, because 9 out of 10 movie based games suck. That and the fact that it looks like another GTA copycat, which have been done to death.

    I hope they keep the music in-line with the movie and the timeframe and not fill it with a bunch of urban crap.

    soulknight63133 if thats true, then they better make the introduction difficult. If its something anyone can get through, its going to ruin the story...but if its something you have to try 100x's just to continue with the game I would be all for it. its a totally different direction of gaming.



    While I hope they dont ruin the movie(which is a classic by now), chances are likely high, that it wont be anything like the movie. Luckily its not in EA's hands to put there greedy hands on it. It better not just be another open ended killing spree (gta is boring).



    also, dont believe release dates @ gamestop/eb games. They make em up to get reserves. Its just like best buy. They arent commission but if they dont sell the warranties(which are a waste, get a Product REPLACEMENT plan only) they get the axe. Seems illegal if ya ask me. Same with gamestop. If we dont get subs and reserves, we are going ot get axed. ILLEGAL MUCH?! Support the developer. BUY NEW

    Yeah he does dies in the end(movie). The game starts you in the big battle scene from the end of the movie. If you survive it, the games begins with you having to rebuild your empire and getting revenge on the columbian crimelord that tried to have you killed at the end of the movie.

    From the trailers I've seen it looks good, now we just have to sit and see if the game play is any good.

    anyone else think this game's gonna suck? i mean look at the freakin story....he doesnt die at the end of the movie? he gets shot like 7 times!
