Man do I love hot female characters that trully whoop @$$! She looks proportionally hot as well. No one likes a chick with big 'guns,' who moves like a russian gymnist. Not only is it impossible... but it just doesn't look right. To me atleast (LOL).

Looks frustrating because of the few checkpoints and bad gunplay. It's like if you get spotted once without morphine then you,re basically dead.

Seriously 7.5? Way lower scores everywhere else and 1 star from Giant Bomb.

Why can't they make a stealth game were the enemies don't arch over backwards when you kill them. I don't remember, was it Splinter Cell or Hitman or Thief 3, where also every time you killed them they fell backwards on top of legs like circus acrobats. Really spoils the immersion factor.

Yea the game feels unfinished in some aspects and at first I wasn't too fond of it. But once you get the hang of the mechanics of the game it gets to be really fun. It's definitely a solid rental.

And you really think she was a babish emo chick who killed around 300 Nazi soldiers stealthily with a knife? Hmm? Hum? Seriously? Obviously there were some exaggerations there bud. And I doubt she lived through it injecting morphine and freezing time, knifing dudes in the crotch.

    @Humorguy_basic

Actually it got a 7.5 because that's exactly what it deserves. I'm just glad I rented it. Have you played this game? It's the same thing all the way through. It's pretty fun at times, but comes off a bit weak in the end. RENT

@ugadog: I agree. The comments on these video review pages get out of hand with far too many immature comments about either the game or the reviewer. And the people who leave intelligent comments end up with too many thumb downs.

@ NoviSadDude: The reason for 7.5 is quite simply the game is not from Valve or Bethesda or a couple other major games publishers, and it is not a shooter. Games from smaller publishers that aren't shooters never get more than 8.0!!!! It's nothing to do with the game, it's the two tier reviewing we now get at fault!

Quite simply, for over a year now, I don't buy a game until there is at least 3 or 4 User Reviews, or at least multiple scores. It's the only way, and you end up getting little gems that the mainstream media hated!

  • NoviSadDude

    Posted May 13, 2009 1:15 pm PT

So, if the stealth is the main part of the gameplay, and it was reiterated that it is quite satisfying, why only 7.5?

How can this reviewer say "realistic, tense and satisfying environment and a interesting stealth game...exhilarating war time experience". It certainly doesn't reflect this game. This review sucked and is very bias...IMHO
This game is terrible and offers a huge disrespect for a true fallen WW2 hero. Violette Szabo...and the morphine mode just goes overboard. The developers deserve gamers hell for this one in my opinion. Gamespot is loosing their class giving this game a 7.5....really guys what the hell are you thinking?

    jenguando:

Actually, I'd like to point out that you need to read a bit more. 7.5 = "Good". If you're going to cling so damn tight to a reviewer's opinion, then you must take the whole and not just what you want to take away from it. It's funny how you try to say 7.5 games are worthless. Yeah, uh huh, sure. Many of the most beloved games scored in the 7.5-8.0 range. Just because you dine on overhyped shooters doesn't mean everyone else does. It only hurts the industry when you try to bash indie devs over a game you have absolutely no experience with whatsoever. Of course a dev like this can't afford a big budget 9.0/10 game. That's only reality, unless you shoot for something like an XBLA/PSN/VC game.

I have a pair, thank you very much. I'm a gamer, not a pseudo-intellectual who bashes games I've never touched. The fact that you try to make your word as fact, then try to silence those that disagree with you is a failed argument with no weight whatsoever. The whole "I have standards and you don't" shows some ignorance towards both your fellow gamers and the developers. It shows that you believe your opinion is fact and therefore indisputable, which couldn't be further from the actual truth, my dear friend.

If you can't afford to try out all games, which I take away from your rant, then I can understand your frustration. I was once a kid and couldn't afford what I wanted. We all go through that. Luckily, I'm now an adult with the income to fund the hobby I enjoy. And I play games before coming up with some absurd rant.

I hope one day you can do the same.

Thanks for your time and good day.

As a follow-up to my last post, I have now been playing the game for a few hours and although a cover system would have been nice it hardly detracts from the gameplay much. I did not encounter any of problems with kill action prompts or the triggering of a kill. The kill cut scenes while good can be a little repetitive, but again this is not a big deal. The one thing the reviewer does seem to have got right is the atmosphere, top notch on all counts (looks, sound, art style) and looks really good right from the opening level. The use of morphine is a little strange, it basically amounts to having smoke or stun grenades or something similar. Maybe there is a thematic reason tucked away in all the blurb somewhere.

As Jenguando rightly says, there doesn't seem to be anything innovative about the game, but to say it is not a stealth game is pure nonesense. As for the reviewers statement about the stealth system not working, I see no evidence of that at all. You are not magically invisible when in the shadows, as the game states you will not normally been seen unless someone gets too close; which is as it should be. Also, if the guards are suspicious they are more alert and are able to spot you in the shadows from a greater distance than normal. This is pretty much how the stealth system worked in the Thief games (not the third game which was a total let down) to which this has more in common than say Splinter Cell games (which I also enjoy).

Anyway, as I stated in my previous post I 'demoed' the full game from unofficial sources. I have now bought the game, so I certainly think it is worth the cash. Oh and it's the PC version if that is in any doubt.

  • jenguando

    Posted May 11, 2009 2:33 am PT

Its funny how gamers are quick to defend any game that gets a mediocre rating. Its because of these kind of gamers that developers are content with putting out crud on a plate.

    GROW A PAIR PLEASE!!

This game is horrendous.Any gamer with standards could tell you that. The game does not innovate in the slightest and is far from anything stealthy. We should all be demanding the best and nothing less. After all games are expensive. If this game cost $5 then idont think anyone would complain. Not even me.

Bit of a WELL LESS DONE Assassins Creed to be Honest but it still does look quite fun the first couple of times you play it!

  • misterautomatic

    Posted May 10, 2009 10:45 pm PT

Its not a "true" stealth game by a long shot, but most people get sheer enjoyment out of just being able to kill people on video games, so maybe you can find a medium. When I played it the killing sequences really make you feel like you're not really in full control, and the only stealth move is bending down? Even on Gears of War and Dark Sector you can take cover on walls, and the morphine ability completely takes you out of element. If you're looking for a true stealth game, then approach this title with caution.

I don't think i'll bother with this one- since I already have spinter cell- stealth games just don't get any better than that.
@ anyone complaining about WWII being an over-used setting- if you bought Call of Duty, World at War...well, some self-examination, please.

  • Crawling-Chaos

    Posted May 10, 2009 12:55 pm PT

Strange really considering the best stealth games of all, the first two in the Thief series (particulary the second game, which I still play to this day) also got similar ratings yet they are hailed as classics, etc. Reviewers have to be some of the most fickle people around and seem to do very little research. The number of times I have read a review and they have claim a feature is new and innovative when it is used in other games before it, or that certain features that do not exist or the game doesn't do one thing or another when actually it does (I'm not being specific to any particular game btw). The best and only true way to decide if you like a game is to try it yourself. Not always easy when demos aren't always available or do not show a game of to its best. To be honest if there is no decent demo around I will get the full game from unofficial sources to try it out, then if it's good I buy the game, otherwise I delete it and save myself the cash from purchasing it blind. Like most so called pirates (those with any clout) encourage people to support the developers by purchasing a game if you like it.
