Bethesda enlists Rogue Warrior

New first-person squad-based tactical shooter in development by Zombie for Xbox 360, PS3, PC; game based on books by former SEAL Richard Marcinko.

Navy SEALs may have taken a hit to their reputation thanks to a certain Charlie Sheen movie, but if Bethesda Softworks has its way, they're about to get their credibility back. The publisher of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has announced that its next game is Rogue Warrior, due in stores in fall 2007.

The game is being developed by Zombie Studios, the Seattle-based studio responsible for several military shooters, including games from the America's Army and Delta Force series. Rogue Warrior will do battle on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

A first-person shooter, Rogue Warrior is based on books by best-selling author and former Navy SEAL Richard Marcinko. Using squad-based tactics, gamers will lead a team behind enemy lines in present-day North Korea to evaluate the state of the country's nuclear technology.

Players will pursue global stability through 10 gameplay modes that cover both single-player and cooperative play for up to four gamers. The multiplayer mode features a unique tiling system, where teams mix and match landscapes to create up to 200 different maps.

Well, maybe you're right. It's just been delayed so much, it seems discouraging. Although you're right, I have looked and the only thing in their in development is Rogue Warrior.

I hope it comes out, looks like it would be a good game (although, when has Bethesda ever made a bad one?).

Lebowski..you shouldnt really say things like that. Do you have any idea how long Bethesda worked on Fallout 3? And those graphics sure didn't suck. This game is going to be pretty amazing, and I do think they are working on it because on the Bethesda website theres a "In development" section that Fallout 3 used to be under..now Rogue Warrior is there.

    Holy Crap.

Due out in stores Fall 2007????? Now the release date is TBA 2009! This just isn't gonna happen. No way. I mean, the graphics would suck now anyway. Unreal III engine? Don't think so.

Man, this just bites. What's Bethesda's new direction?

Anyone know what ever happened to this game, there hasn't been an update in over a year and a half now. I'm dying for this game, like really dying to see it in action at the very least.

I've been a fan of Marcikos books and read them since I was fourteen. I hope that Bathesda pays homage to the baddest Commander of SEAL Team 6 correctly or all heck is going to break loose. Leade by Example Bathesda. Give'em Hell

It would be nice if they implement the R6 VEGAS cover system. I think it makes a huge difference to gameplay, in a good way. High hopes for this anyway, cover system or not.
