In April, a free update known as "The Dope Bag" added four new maps titled Clean Cut, Hooker's Trail, Flying High, and Hasta La Vista for use in the Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode. Five new achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore points were also added on the Xbox 360.

    I'm glad he got fired. He always focuses his reviews on the bad, even on the games he gave a good score to. Greg Kasavin was (and still is) my favorite reviewer. He knew how to evenly review a game.

    did gamespot make it or what why do they care if the game sucked he told the truth bad game = bad review if all of the games got A+ reviews then: no one would trust gamespot because games gamespot said were good sucked
    therefore no one would go to gamespot
    therefore they wouldn't get money for advertsing
    the smart thing would have been for gamespot to just not review the game if they knew it sucked and then they wouldn't have pissed off the guys paying them to advertise
    but thats just MY opinion

    if its a bad game its a bad game....i just find it hilarious how gamespot put all that money into advertising it then Jeff gives it a bad review.....LEGEND!!!!

    its kind of a good thing this happened sometimes, because the guys at giantbomb work really well together, and have a lot more freedom than anyone does here.

    People still on about this, Giant Bomb is the place to go if you want Jeff alright. The past sadly won't correct itself.

    Hmm, if Geff was fired because of this review, than that shouldn't have been done. Even so, he really portrayed this game as a bad one and I really don't think that's the case. Other than it's length and a bit inaccurate aiming, it's a decent game. It has good voice acting, engaging story, it's challenging and it feels rewarding. I was angry because I thought Jeff was fired for making this review and I thought it was fair for the game to be bashed but I got it recently and played it through and I realized a lot of effort was put into it. In short I think this game is quite underrated here and people should stop judging it harshly because they think Jeff was fired because of reviewing it.

    Even so, firing him was a bad idea, if they did it because he gave Kane and Lynch a low score.

    Jeff was just telling the truth and that what he's supposed to do because he is a critic. He shouldnt have been fired,

    To think... one simple review would start one of the greatest controversies in videogame history- Gertsmanngate. The whole scandal totally redifined our ideas about the reliability and trustworthyness of industry reviewers, and the industry reeled in it's wake.

    It will take some time to get with the new reviewers like we did with jeff, shoemaker and ocampo... even the legendary Greg. But please, don't give high scores for games because their companies pay you :\ It's just not ethical...
    Btw, I don't have xbox, just wanted to see what the fuss :p

    Well I picked the game up and have been playing it, Im a good bit into it, I agree with the below comment, there are some parts of Jeffs review I agree with, other parts I don't, but to fire him over it? That was really really harsh, the whole point of his role was to give his honest and experienced opinion, Im suprised he hasn't sued Gamespot! And why is his review still up after him being fired??

    The reason why jeff was fired wasn't exactly because gamespot disagreed with his review, but because gamespot was paid highly to advertise it when it came out, as far as giving gamespot a kane and lynch theme, then jeff comes along and gives it a bad score, thats why he was fired. Personally i think jeff is a great reviewer, and is one of the most respectable journalists out there, and i disagree with a lot of what he had to say in this review, and agree with some of it too, but firing him was a big mistake for gamespot.

    Wow he really laid into this game didn't he?! I'll have to pick it up and see for myself, I dont't know bout this whole story that he got fired over it, sounds messed up, but I'll be back, gonna check this out for myself.......

    Jeff Gerstmann is a great critic. He is a critic, he's allowed to not like a game and I totally agree with his review. I can't say if this is why so many left or why he was fired. If it was, it's a Massive shame.

    This review is what probably marked the beginning of the end of the "tradition" in Gamespot. Jeff G., Ryan, Greg K., and Brad Shoemaker told GameSpot to F@#% Off after this. These reviewers were what made me want to watch Gamespot and now they are all gone. What we are left with on Gamespot are a bunch of Limey reviewers who are tools of this bull@&$T new order in Gamespot.

    That was his opinion that the game sucks. GS shouldn't have fired him like that. I guess GS doesn't care about people's opinions. But it's true the game was bad. I played it for an hour and I really hated it. I never picked it up again.

    I only played the demo for kayne and lynch and jeff is right, there is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much F-bombs being dropped, but i like the cover mechanics, and the guns arent too hard or too easy to aim. Regardless of whether or not the characters are understandable, jeff didn't see what was understandable, thats just one review, he shouldn't be fired for it.

    Ah so this is the infamous review that got poor jeff fired. Luckily he's kicking ass on GiantBomb.com now (the greatest gaming site in existence imo) so eh.

    Still amazes me that he got fired for simply telling it like it is, the game was as awful as he said it was and no one should have bought it.

    no one should be fired for a review. it was his opinion and gamespot hired him to give it. just because you disagree with him doesn't mean that he had a grudge. i happened to hate the new prince of persia; that doesn't mean Kevin VanOrd was being paid by UbiSoft to say good things about it.

    It's ridiculous and unwarranted to fire him for this; though it did seem like he said many negative things about the game, that's how he felt. He was one of the best reviewers.

    this game was good better then wat they rated it the story was very good if you played it and the shooting was bad but you could deal with it and the multiplayer was good 2

    Ok guys, one and a half years later I do feel that the audio quality is pretty sub par and its a little too harsh to the game (though it may deserve it), so maybe GS ***might*** have a point.

    But seriously, you guys shouting about how cool giantbomb is need to stay there. Why come here and say something like "Giantbomb is the place to be??" Its not where you are right now, is it? Also, get a REAL purpose in your life.

    No hate to Jeff though, he's cool, and his new site is cool too, except the name which I think he named after one of his farts.
