Report: Brash cofounder checks out

President Nicholas Longano leaves the publisher of Jumper, Alvin and the Chipmunks just over a year after launching it.

In March 2007, Legendary Pictures CEO announced that it would be raising $150 million to create independent game developer Brash Entertainment to work on game projects that would be licensed with movies, books, and music.

Six projects were revealed to be in the works, including a 300 game. In June, the company scored some $400 million in funding for its adaptation projects from a private investment firm. Brash also revealed it was working on games based on Jumper and Saw.

However, according to Variety, all is not well at the company, and Brash cofounder Nicholas Longano has reportedly left the building. According to the article, Longano has "moved on," and his duties are being taken over by CEO and cofounder Mitch Davis.

Figures from NPD show the company's first two games haven't done as well as hoped. Alvin and the Chipmunks has so far sold 286,000 units in the US, whereas Jumper: Griffin's Story has shifted just under 16,000.

Longano will remain involved with Brash as an investor in the company.

i feel sorry for the people who bought those crappy games..probably little kids. imagine getting only one christmas present and it's 'space chimps'..
millions wasted.... all that money could have fed starving children yet it was spent on TRASH, that isn't selling.

Meet the next Uwe Ball lol reversed. Instead of making aweful movies adapted from games, he's going to make bad games adapted from movies. Guess what it's such a long and beaten down path that very rarely does a game adaptation get rated above average. It's taken Star Wars a number of tries until they started churning out good games, with the exception of the X-wing/Tie fighter games which were quite good.

I guess someone was going to choose this line of work, good luck with it and I hope beyond hope your products raise the bar for movie adapted games market.

Well thats what you get when you make crap games. How can you make a game out of SAW? thats so stupid. 300 seems alright but no comment on there Chipmonks and Jumper games. They need to open there eyes to what people want or just make there games better.

Its not that games based on movies are bad. They can be good if they are allowed to develop at their own pace. Trying to release a game along side a movie is what cause these games downfall. If the game Jumper was based on the Novel and not the movie it could have been a great game. As for Alvin and the Chipmunks. They really should have known better. Look at the disney or Pixar games that come out every year. They don't rack in high sales either. I guess some people aren't meant to lead.

That's what happens when you try to do only Licensed games. You end up making nothing but crappy games that don't sell well. Why? Because there is too much bureaucracy that hinders that development of a licensed game. Therefore you are too restricted in what you can do and the license ends up holding the game back from being any good.

If you want to make it doing only licensed games, then you need to have a different way of getting things done. You need to spend 2+ years on each game in order to push towards something worthwhile that will return a profit.

I would assume third rate studios go through this crap all the time, but if GS brought this to our attention, then apparently not.

Making a developing company that focuses on movie licenses is like selling poop as candy and wondering why people won't buy it. Sure a few people get desperate enough to try it but once word gets out it's over. The only reason Chipmunks sold as much as it sold is because parents bought it for their children only knowing the name was The Chipmunks, oh the kids liked the movie I'm sure they like the game, then money gets thrown away.

well those games were horrible, cmon if they expect to make it they have to make better matieral...but thats also hard to do with movie and book games because they have to meet a deadline to coincide for movie realeases...if you ask me they already dug there grave taking on the task of movie and media games

What does it matter knowing what Brash is? What you need to know is the game. Many casual gamer do not know rackstar but they know GTA and that is what matter.
What i think is that those 2 movies are not part of a long standind series nor are they cult movies so i believe the mistake was in purchasing those licenses.
It would be great to think that gamers got finally smart and will not buy crappy movies-tie in games but we all know that is an illusion.
