Shippin' Out January 15-19: Buurnnning Cruuusade!

WOW expansion hits shelves, social lives hit skids; also out this week: wacky Wii WarioWare, another case for Phoenix Wright, March Madness in January.

A new strain of an addictive diversion has hit the streets, and gamers all over the US are locking themselves in dark rooms, cutting off communications with loved ones, and staring bleary-eyed, getting their fix. The diversion in question is, of course, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion to Blizzard's PC MMMMMORPG (massive money-making, massively multiplayer online role-playing game) World of Warcraft.

WOW expands!

Burning Crusaders overrun a San Francisco Bay Area Fry's Electronics; GameSpot bears witness to the carnage.

The Burning Crusade hit some shelves at the stroke of midnight last night, and if the crowds spotted across the globe in the US, UK, and Australia are any indication, Blizzard has another hit on its hands. The add-on introduces the Outworld, a level cap of 70, two new playable races, and more.

The game's collector's edition sold out long ago, but those who must have the exclusive in-game pet that comes with it can pay the price on eBay. The Burning Crusade costs $39.99, requires the original World of Warcraft to play, and needs an active World of Warcraft subscription ($14.99 per month).

Those not interested in firing round after round of lightning bolts in the fictional world of Azeroth can instead compete in round after round of lightning-quick minigames in the bizarre world of Nintendo. WarioWare: Smooth Moves for the Wii was released on Monday, bringing more than 200 minigames specifically designed with the motion-sensitive Wii Remote in mind. Many of the bizarre collection of vignettes feature Nintendo properties, such as Star Fox and Mario, as their subjects.

Capcom's Phoenix Wright returns to court this week with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All for the Nintendo DS. As Wright, gamers will participate in four new cases, checking out crime scenes, cross-examining witnesses, and engaging in other legal matters. New this go around include a life bar for Wright and a "Psyche-Lock" feature--Phoenix must break down witnesses by asking several correct questions in a row.

Gamers who object to anime-style courtroom dramas can try their hand at a game based on one of sport's most popular events. NCAA March Madness 07 from Electronic Arts simulates the college basketball season on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. Those who take the court will be treated to two new focuses in this year's edition of the game--school tradition and school pride.

This week's new releases are listed below (list taken from retailer information--actual dates may vary).

Don't read my post then... Dot's are my friend...

    I love them... OK...

WOW is getting a little better for the solo gamer. But I'm sure it will revert back to it's old state of nothing but 40 man raid instances and huge guilds.

lol someone was complaining about the $50 a year for xbox live and how ps3 is free. Open your eyes xbox live has a lot and a lot more to offer then the ps3 online. the ps3 online is just like the ps2 online they both suck. Then there is this one person who must not know what a good game is and said wow is better then any game on the 360 i could name so many games that are better here i will name one oblivion no online, but still the best. then there is cod2 and 3 as well as dead rising and of course gears of war i could go on.

Too bad people on WOW are a bunch of whining jerks! All of my friends who play WOW are completely turned off by it now because people don't know how to play without being a jackazz. We have all converted to FFXI, which albeit a much slower game, it actually a better game than WOW.

I don't find raiding for several hours ( 4-8 )... Fun... 15-30 Mins waiting to loot 1 boss. They took the game away from the solo gamer and gave it to the gamers that have large guilds... Huge amounts of time to waste... Even the upgrade to the tier 0 sets... You need highly skilled and equipped players to even complete the last few parts.

They took dungeons out of the equation. It's all about PVP now... For the lone solo gamer... Thats the best move they did. Now they need to fix there PVP system... Because at it is right now... It's based on luck... You can end up getting zero honor for an hours wait because of an already started BG.

This game didn't even keep me hooked for 2 years like other MMORPG's I played before. Less then a year I was thinking of quiting... But I didn't I leveled every class in the game to 60... It all ended the same... BC looks no different.
