The Bottom Line:
"Amazing"
Bungie did everything they could to get this game hyped up. Even non-xbox 360 owners would go out and buy it in the store, just in case they would buy a 360 later on.

Halo 3's gameplay is the same as last time, with a few twists and turns. The arbiter has a much smaller rol, he just covers the master chiefs back this time around. But it is possible to play as the arbiter in co-op play. All the previous weapons are back with some changes, I wasn't able to dual wield the needler for instance.

Most times in the campaign you will be using the battle rifle or the carbine. The ability to zoom in and shoot gets the better of a lot of weapons that don't have that option.

What would halo be without its vehicles right? As usual the warthog is there with the scorpion, hornet and mongoose. With similar vehicles at the covenants side. I especially like going downhill with a warthog, its pure fun!

The multiplayer hasn't changed a lot, its still the same as in halo 2. This is for better words an excellent decision from bungie. Why change it? Halo 2's multiplayer was obviously succesful. Bungie did exacly what we wanted, the same stuff only in better graphics and with more toys. And boy did we get the toys!

In halo 3 it's now possible to download other people's gametypes, screens, video's and forge created maps in a fast and simple way. You can even watch your previously played games, change it and with no effort put them online for everyone to see. This gives a lot of ways for you to show everyone you know how you got a killing spree in 5 sec, or that lucky impossible sticky.

Forge mode gives you the option to mess around in halo as never before. You can't build new maps, but you can change the created maps so much you would swear it's a different map when you first glance at it. You can put new weapons, vehicles, etc... in all your maps. You can be creative as you want to be in forge mode. I have seen a lot of video's showing a simple but interresting domino effect taking place with jump pads and everything.

The re-playability of the campaign is bigger then in halo 2, thanks to the new skull system. These skulls have to be found in secret places al around the campaign and give interresting effects when activated. Most of these skulls make life more difficult, one gives more health to enemies, another takes away your map and my most hatted, even takes your entire hud of the screen.

These skulls are there for a reason, you can try and complete a mission with it, and at the end you get a score. Ofcourse its the idea to get a very high score. There are a lot of ways to increase your score, with headshots, sticky's, changing the difficulty, the time remaining and the types of enemies you killed. When one or more skulls are activated you get a multiplier to your score at the end.

Halo 3's story obviously ends the cliffhanger left there by halo 2. It's characters have a good feel. To be honest I have cared more about other characters from other games, but in halo 3 it's not bad either. The missions are varied and have a good balance overall.

Graphically halo 3 is great, it's 2009 as I'm writing this and I have to say that at times it's still amazing. I have really nothing bad to say about the graphics, only that it has its moments. Overall its mostly just decent and good.

The previous halo's are known for their music, because it gives that epic feeling to it. Halo 3 is no different, it still has the same thrill to it when playing the game and seeing the cut-scenes. The music is now more convincing than ever thanks to the new graphics. Halo's music is instantly recognisable, whenever you hear it you can just think of one thing... halo, nothing else. I literally walked by a person the other day on the street that was humming it. It's an instant classic in my eyes and it will be the standard for most games in years to come.

The sounds all feel real and right when hearing it, however the voice acting isn't all that, but good non the less.

Halo 3 really is amazing, it has a great campaign a fantastic multiplayer experience with a very big ever-growing community and a very impressive soundtrack. Most games don't have this much bang for buck. It is in my eyes a must buy.

Gameplay: 9.5/10
Story: 9.0/10
Graphics: 9.5/10 (When it just came out)
Sounds: 10/10
