GDC '08: Gears of War 2 rolls out in November

The fact that Epic Games is at work on a sequel to 2006's massive Xbox 360 hit Gears of War is one of the industry's worst-kept secrets. Aside from being a logical business move--Gears has sold 4.5 million copies globally across the Xbox 360 and PC to date--Epic has been less than opaque about its intentions, even as far back as last year's Game Developers Conference when lead designer Clifford Bleszinski (aka Cliffy B) said that his company "intends to do a sequel."

The question, then, has been when would Microsoft and Epic finally get around to making the announcement. True to rampant speculation, that reveal came today during Microsoft's keynote speech at the 2008 Game Developers Conference

After Epic founder Tim Sweeney and president Mike Capps left the stage with no mention of the shooter midway through Microsoft's presentation, the lights dimmed to close out the keynote...and a trailer for Gears of War 2 played. Cliffy B then stormed the stage, chainsaw rifle in hand, revealing the game would officially light up Microsoft's console exclusively this November.

No PC version of the game was mentioned, though Epic released an enhanced PC port of the sci-fi third-person shooter a year after its console counterpart.

    i wish this were for ps3. Oh well I am just going to buy a 360 for it. :-)

    I cant wait till november. This game will kick ass, I hope it's as good as the first one.

    gears of war 2 is gonna whoop ass i gotta say marcus is a badass man lol i mean how man ppl do u no can stare down the corpser into a lava pit i would be scared crapless and jump into the lava lmaoo

    if u like a game where u can jst straight up own ppl and curb stomp there face off gears of war is the game for u......cant wait till november its gonna be the **** man

    damn i loved the first game but i dont have a 360 guess ill just play resistance 2 on my ps3 and go to my friends house and play there gears and be better than them at it

    three words.....BEST.......GAME........EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

    the first one was amazing but the multiplayer almost always ended a shotgun war.

    for the gw101 who asked why all game characters are right-handed, it's because the bullet casings come out of the right-hand side of most guns, and you don't want hot brass flying into your face. also the cocking handle on some weapons will hit you in the teeth if you fire it left-handed as your face is on that side

    wonder if the PC port will take as long as the first one did (about a year). WASD + mouse > mongoloid controller

    November can't come fast enough, GoW 1 was a good game, hopefully they improve on what made Gears 1 so popular, and add some new features.

    hope the 2nd one's better. 1st one was ok but didnt live up to the hype if u ask me.. kinda left u thinking wtf is going on from when u started the game n had a rather dul ending... plz improve this game
