I dunno... i didnt find this game all that scary....sure it is a good solid shooter, but i found it extremely annoying that the game was so dark and i couldnt find my way around and kept getting lost.....that was bout the scariest part....getting out of a dark cramped room with a fading flashlight

I think they're just mad because this game made them pee their pants while trying to criticize the game. XD

I think the reviewers need to look less on story and more on the fact that this game makes you pee your pants, take a dump, jump, have their heart beat out of there moth, scream, and want to RUN! All that the same time.

That's what a horror game should do. I don't go on a haunted house ride to learn the story of Dracula, understand?

I got the game on steam for half the price I think the offer is worth since you'll get the mission pack "reborn" too, the bad think is that game is 11gb ibought it on sunday and still downloading it.

I just beat this game like 5 minutes ago and decided to see this review.. in short the review sucks ass, i played and absolutely loved the first game. and F.E.A.R 2 is more then an adequate sequal, i really enjoyed this game almost as much as i did the first one, and that's saying a lot because the original FEAR is one of my favourite shooters of all time. KVO has a serious bug up his arse..

I thought the reviewer did a fair job with explaining the game. F.E.A.R is about the story. It is a great game and the story keeps me coming back. The game-play is cool and so are the effects. I enjoyed listening to the reviewers detailed point of view.

@lindigj lay off Kevin, the two most important parts of a game are the gameplay and the story. Besides he isnt a magical reviewing genie, if you expect reviews to coincide with your own thoughts why bother watching them the whole point is to get another opinion. Also Velvet Assasain is in a whole other genre. The F.P.S. and horror genres are both very competitive... not so much the WW2 stealth genre.

I admit, I haven't played this game at all. But, just looking at the video review, it is obvious that this is yet another poor review by Kevin Van Ord. I don't know what it is, but he is not your typical gamer. His frustrations about a game usually are things that your standard gamer would not get hung up on. Also, he is very story conscious to the extent that if a story doesn't take him on a magical adventure, he usually will not rate the game any higher than a 7.0. In his world, there is no game where you just blow sh*t up and have a good time. Now, I agree that this game does look to be weak in the multiplayer realm and it does seem to be more action oriented and less story driven. However, is it actually possible that this game is truly worse than Velvet Assassin (7.5)? Just because a game does not live up to the original, it is not a reason to smack it down 1 pt from where you would have rated it. KVO needs to quit reviewing anything but RPGs, because it is clear that those are what he really enjoys.

I dont see how anyone can say this game was good. ok ya it is a solid shooter. but thats it. nothing special, just pretty boring gunplay the whole time. it didnt scare me it only startled me twice. the cool thing about the original was that the AI didnt automatically know where you are and you could hear them relaying orders as they hunted you. that was creepy. In this one of course like every other mediocre shooter all the enemies pretty much know where you are all the time automatically. and yes the first one had some scariness, not much but it was better than this thrown together one. the mech interface was cool though, I liked how it powered up felt real.

Crappy game. This game was a big slap in the face to all pc gamers. Five years in the making and full of hype and they give us a POS xbox360 console port with glowing enemies, stupid AI, horrible multiplayer, lack of proper mouse support, etc. Epic fail. I love the constant stupid comments like "this game made me pee or I just s**t in my pants". If that's the case then go buy some adult diapers and go ask the wizard for some courage.

Wow I hate ignorant morons that post in here, wish I could toot in there mouths and tell them to shut the hell up and just go play tiger woods golf or something

I loved, the first F.E.A.R, The Expansion to fear Extraction point, Perseus Mandate, and I loved F.E.A.R 2, I have always loved this series.. and when I see the people from game-spot rate it a SEVEN because they feel its copied and pasted from the other games and some HOW the ending sucked?? Just wow... okay, you give W.o.W and all the expansions a near 10 and everything in that game is recycled(REUSED) they literally actually do copy and paste everything, cheap, and hardly has any effort put into it. I could write a 200 page essay on why that game is overrated and cheap. This game (FEAR 2) that actually does have a TWIST in the story which was in the end and they unravel more info on the story.. if you even played all the way through? And its obvious that there's going to be a 3rd one which means the story will unfold further more, later on. So yeah a 7 is HIGHLY underrated this game is an easy 9 at least. Game-trailers and Game-spot have sometimes some of the worst game reviews out there. Terrible.. ending HAH?.. gg dude. Okay.. one more thing, about the "age old trick for narrow path ways".. it's a game dude, do you not understand that if its not a sandbox genre they can't allow you to roam 200 square miles of nothing but rubble?.. It's a strong story line driven game they want you to have room but not so much room that you lose track and go roaming for hours for no reason at all, hey I'm sorry you can't have Fear Theft Auto 2, it's a different genre this is how a game is meant to be played according to its GENRE. I'm ready for FEAR 3, bring it.

this game actually has great graphics with and HDMI cable. I'm going to game trailers they're are not counted in critic scores because its also a tv show but thier rating system is very solidd and they are very unbaised they list many more pros. and cons. in thier vids and they are quite dependable.

im actually enjoying the game and like it better than the first game and i like the multiplayer because all of these new FPS multiplayers are trying new thing but Fear 2s multiplayer has reminded me of the old ps2 multiplayer and I sorta wish was split screen but yeah im realli enjoying this game and its horror

I found the game very disappointing, I thought there would be more to this. The AI was extremely weak and not very hard, the storyline was predictable compared to the first fear, except for a few new weapons.
They really failed with this, the fact that it has to took over 2 months to bring out a patch for minor bugs and lockups.
They really let the PC community down on this one, the lack of communication on there support site then finally telling the PC community they will not be furnishing SDK and dedicated server files along with any kind of anti cheat makes this strictly a signal player game.
A dedicated multi player environment is out of the question.
I myself will not purchase any further releases of this game unless there is a guarantee that they will provide the basic multi player add-ons.
I agree with this review 100% only I would not be as nice as this guy, not sure if it was the money or what but with the huge following with Fear1 they really drop the ball here.
My recommendation with regards to this game is, if you want to play a signal player game with weak AI and low end graphics compared to fear then this is the game for you.
If you are looking for a multi player environment game then your out of luck don't waist your time.
Don't purchase this game if you are regular gamer as you will be completely disopointed.

I agree that the game's premise being the haunting element is a bit dated and needs to be revised. After playing condemned:Criminal Origins, there really isn't a game out there that has or perhaps ever will scare me like that again. But this is less of a fault of FEAR 2, and more of a strong, overpowering image created by condemned. Condemned did such a great job, that it's almost as if monolith used up all their great ideas and compacted them into one game. FEAR 2 still can hold it's own at some points in the game, and I don't agree with the reviewer here stating that "They mystery element is no longer here", which brings the game down. THATS PRECISELY WHAT ALL SEQUELS DO!! You don't play a sequal thinking that the writers are going to throw a hundred more curveballs at you. That would just be scattered unappealing plot twists as a result of poor plot design.

This game is great. A new gaming experience that is very intense. What the reviewer misses is what this release tells the player of the story. No game is the same as the first, if it was why would you play the second game. This chapter is great and full of excitement. You will not be disappointed at all. If you are a fan of F.E.A.R, this is a must play as you venture into the realm of totally insane game play.

The first game was a great FPS. It had some features that separated the game from the mass and made it worth-playing. The slow-motion was necessary if you wanted to survive, the visual effects were very nice and there were some really scaring moments in the game. There was also a solid story (continued in the first expansion) and the difficulty level was just right (those rocket-robots were a nightmare in harder difficulty level!). It was a great and entertaining game to play. I can't see how the second one will overcome it's ancestor...

Not very hard, graphics aren't that spectacular (on par with FPS graphics from 3 years ago). Slomo makes everything wayyyy to easy. Fun game, but not very challenging.

It has been pretty obvious for a while that GS is purposely lowering its score values to try to regain all the credibility they lost in 2008. That fact is not working.

Take this review for instance. The Metacritic score is a 79 or 8.0 which is what I would have given it. But watching or reading this review you see the reviewer just doesn't come up with any solid reasons for his score. The scare and element and story are fine in this game and graphically its got enough eye candy.

The real issues with the game that keeps it from being in the 9.0 range are.

    1. AI. This was the thing people talked about the most from the first game. It got a lobotomy in F2.

    2. The bullet time ability is useless except for the very last boss fight. You never actually need it. They have should have either designed some levels that where you really needed it or given you a different psychic power suck as telekeniesis etc.

    3. Fights needed to be more frantic and tougher. Even on hard this game is a cake walk. Also it would have been interesting if they have given you more hand to hand combat moves and given you parts of the game where you hand to use your bare hands. That would have given bullet time some uses.

The one thing this guy did get right was the humor didn't work.
