Fall of Liberty reaches Turning Point

Codemasters tweaks the title of its Spark-developed alternate-history shooter set in Nazi-occupied America; new screens inside.

Last August, Codemasters announced it was publishing Fall of Liberty, an alternate-history shooter set in a fictional timeline. The first-person shooter will see players defend the American homeland after the Nazis invade in 1952. Like the similarly themed Freedom Fighters, the game will center on gritty urban combat in New York City, albeit from a first-person perspective.

Today, Codemasters announced a slight title tweak for Fall of Liberty, which will henceforth go by the handle Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. No reason was given for the name change for the game, which will ship in the US and Europe this fall for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. No rating or pricing is yet available for the game.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is the first next-generation title from Spark Unlimited, the litigiously challenged studio behind Call of Duty: Finest Hour. Last August, Spark also signed a deal with Vivendi Games to develop a next-gen franchise, apparently abandoning an exclusive next-gen deal it signed with Atari earlier in the year.

This really sounds like an interesting story to have plus a whole new location setting. Good bye Omaha Beach levels.

Hmm ... this could be interesting if it's done right. A WWII shooter with a twist.

Personally, I'd rather have a FPS than a 3rd Person Shooter, any day (except for Sniper Elite). This game has a ton of potential, hopefully, it will be executed and produced well.

Are you sure this is meant to be based in the 50's? I just saw the preview photo of the white house in the game and it looks like 2007 to me! Stormtroopers on the lawn and a Nazi lunatic in the building itself! Yep def 2007.

sigh*** I dunno..this WW2 thing is getting really old..even resistance fall of man seems unoriginal simply because its set in that era(ish)...where are the Civil War fps? or fps from the Revolutionary War? I mean there are so many untaped eras of history we are neglecting that could be done so well on current gen consoles. Heck even a good Nam game would be better than WW2 at this point..call me crazy but Nazi's are getting sorta boring.

    "Brain_Plug

wow, a FPS based on world war two.... that is SOOOO original..... do they not realize nobody's gonna buy it? everyone is tired of games about world war two...and besides, there are other games that everyone knows are better than whatever this game is."

Yeah because Call of Duty isn't one of the biggest FPS franchises on the consoles.

Dont know enough about it to pass judgement yet but its looking more like a gimmick than a game.

How could people be tired of WWII games that take place IN America? How many of those have we had............

hopefully it won't be the debacle described in the "litigiously challenged" link, that would suggest spark being sued out of business by activision, as well as this game being a lackluster product because spark is supposedly "incompetent" as activision's suit claims
