Fable II DLC delayed

Knothole Island add-on to Lionhead's best-seller pushed back to late January; Microsoft fingers "unexpected technical difficulties" as culprit.

Last month, Microsoft announced that Fable II, the sequel to Lionhead Studios' best-selling role-playing game, had already sold 1.5 million copies worldwide. More than half of those were bought in the United States in the 10 days after its October 21 release, according to figures from top retail-tracking company NPD Group.

The size of Fable II's fan base ensures massive disappointment in this week's news that the first downloadable content expansion for the game has been delayed. In a note posted on Xbox.com's Fable II page last night, Microsoft apologized for the postponement, which pushes the DLC's launch back one month from its previously scheduled December 22 debut.

"Due to unexpected technical difficulties, the Fable II: Knothole Island expansion will not be available until late January 2009," read the post. However, registration for the Knothole Island Download and Win sweepstakes, which features a custom 360 signed by Fable creator Peter Molyneux as a grand prize, remains open.

As the name implies, Fable II's Knothole Island DLC adds a new isle region to a far-off corner of the game's realm. Once a tropical paradise, the isolated area has been stricken by a mysterious, wintry darkness that is killing off its various flora and fauna. Players will have to undertake three trials to cast off the curse plaguing Knothole Island, which will be available via Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft points ($10)…eventually.

first of all everyone needs to stfu about it being peter mloneuxs fault, he didnt making the game all on his own, and its not even lion heads fault. would you rather them come out with it and have glitches and bugs galore that crash your game? or would you rather wait A MONTH and have a fantastic addon. secondly from what ive heard is there is going to be 7 quests and 1 legendary weapon.

hopefully its's big enough to justify buying. " Players will have to undertake three trials to cast off the curse plaguing Knothole Island" meaning there are only 3 quests? I just hope for 10 bucks they put in some other goodies to make it worth while

It's not Peter Molyneux. It's Lionhead studios, and it's not their fault. They're fixing bugs. Just wait, man.

Anyway, I think it would be neat if they added vehicles/mounts. Like horses, or broomsticks ( '-' ). But then again, the walking isn't that much of a hassle. Perhaps they could release a map that would make vehicles more useful.

When I first completed Fable 2 I was wondering: "Will there be a Lost chapters wannabe for this too? " And I was right! I love Fable, both 1, 2 and TLC... And I think I'll love this too! It's better to have them take long time with it than to have bugs!

even though i don't have Fable 2 and i'm getting a PS3 in a few months, i've played Fable TLC and a bit of this game and its great. could've done more though.

seriously, if microsoft keep charging you guys for ANY tiny little bit of DLC, you need to stand up and fight against it. they have enough money, so why are they charging for everything possible?"

They charge for DLC for the same exact reason Sony and Nintendo do. Because they can and, will.

There's a huge loading problem with Fable 2. At random but frequently, the game will freeze mid-play or get stuck in the loading screen. This problem has been theorized to be due to the download patch for Co-op play. I guess this extra download content is delayed because they are trying to fix this problem first.
