E3 06: Fishburne, Hackman punk Dirty Harry

Warner Bros. Interactive's game based on Dirty Harry films will feature voices of Gene Hackman, Laurence Fishburne.

LOS ANGELES--Basing a game on a movie franchise doesn't carry a lot of weight without some A-list Hollywood talent. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's upcoming action game Dirty Harry, based on the films that began with 1971's Dirty Harry>, will feature the voice and likeness of Academy Award-winning actor and director Clint Eastwood.

But Eastwood won't be dishing out his vigilante justice alone. Joining the cast will be Gene Hackman (The French Connection, Hoosiers) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, Mission: Impossible III). Hackman will portray police supervisor Al Bressler, and Fishburne will play Reverend Carlton Clay. Eastwood has worked with both actors in films, having directed Hackman in The Unforgiven and Fishburne in Mystic River.

The Dirty Harry games were announced in February 2005, but WBIE still has yet to release concrete details. As of now, the game has not been designated for any specific platforms, as a release merely stated it would appear on "next-generation consoles." It is being shown behind closed doors at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

    Does anyone else beside me remember that Dirty Harry game for the nes? This looks like it could be a good game. Maybe they'll release a DS version? But I bet it'll be a PS3/PSP sorta thing.

    This is a great license for a game, besides they have some great actors there; I hope that they can make some Dirty Harry games and not spoil another license.

    This sounds cool, I really wanna play this now (as long as they don't pull a "enter the matrix" - and btw Dirty Harry wasn't a Sergio Leone movie....he had nothing to do with them - but try Don Siegel...

    Grrrr. Dirty Harry is not really a vigilante. He only shoots people who resist arrest.

    No Sergio Leone movies should ever be made into a game, Dirty Harry on the other hand is a pretty decent idea since they're all pretty basic acton movies.

    Great, another movie to game project. Just what we need. Ever heard of inovation? Great actors do not a great game make.

    well, i love Clint Eastwood, hes the freaking man, all his moies are good (high plains drifter may be the most bad ass cowboy movie ever, and his last 2 movies were amazing, and right now he is even working on a back to back sequels of wwii movies). Dirty Harry was freaking awesome, but they're gunna have to do a lot more than make a shoot 'em "do you feel lucky" kinda game to make this good. Hopefully, having clint eastwood doing voice and likeness and having two actors he has mad movies for and with (larry fishburn and gene hackman) seems like this could actually be a real movie going on in the game and could turn out to be a really good experience.

    Clint Eastwood is Dirty Harry couldn't make it without him
    This hopefully will be good especially with Laurence Fishbourne!!

    Sweet to see Clint really in the game voice acting.

    My guess is that it will be for the 360 and PS3.
