for some reason i like dark athena better, it might be because it isn't nearly as slow as butcher bay

I disagree with the reviewer--I found the updated Butcher to be absurdly difficult, slow, and also really boring/annoying to play all over again, having already played it on the original, as nothing has changed.

I really liked Athena for what it was. Great characters and voice acting, and the fighting and sneaking aspects were much more fair and balanced than the original. I also liked the ship environment more than the prison.

They should have made it like splinter cell 3rd person but looks good anyway they should also fix the grabing he grabs a 160 some pound guy and throws them like a ragdoll thats not normal they should have made it as kick @$$ as the movies the movies were awsome compared to the games they're good but not as good you cant see what your doin you just see knifes or fists flying everywhere its a good game but should have that fixed

    @Zapp3d

Yes it is defenitely worth buying, it doesnt matter if you havent played BB b4, thats only a good thing cuz you will also have it if you buy Assault on Dark Athena (but then ten times more beautiful than the xbox version).
Both games are awesome, great story, gorgeous graphics, wicked gameplay (FPS and first person combat, knifing work rly rly well and it looks freakin cool). So I'd say: go buy this one! You get 2 games for the price of 1 and both stories are worth 10+ hours of fun and wickidness.
And ofcourse, Vin Diesel's voice makes it complete.

I liked the firs. At the time it was like so many games of last gen that got under appreciated. I would say this and the suffering needed more attention (Although The Suffering 2 kinda stunk.) I was just checking to see if I should rent.

Dude, why would you spoil this game for all the people that look at the review to see if it's any good? You just showed like 2 of the main characters dying in the review....Nice...

Nice spoiler. It reminds me why I look elsewhere for reviews.

Look any review you get is going to subjective. When you get into those last few points after 7, much has to do with how jaded the reviewer is on a certain type of game. Maybe if this guy wasn't so burned out on shooters it would have gained a point or 2. Gotta remember these guys play a whole lot of games. I have an idea of their lifestyle being on unemployment the last few months and gaming nonstop. I just beat Butcher Bay for the second time and I'm halfway through Athena. In my opinion, one is made better by the other, because it seems almost to be one long seamless game. In Athena you get more weapons, more variation to Riddicks brand of smack down. The mech sequences are better than in other games, and I get a kick out of Vin Diesel grumbling his comically grim one liners. The story isn't very epic, but it fits around the character and his doings well enough. One thing the reviewer complained about was being pointed in the wrong direction and having to backtrack and run around with nothing to guide him. I'm thinking he made the mistake of pointing himself in the wrong direction just before the auto save hit. I'm having no problem navigating its been a breeze thus far. Athena is easier than Butcher Bay if anything. More frequent save points and more comprehensible passages.

I give the whole package a solid 8.5. Its a great game for those who love antiheros skulking around giant complexes and taking out a bunch of foul mouthed antagonists.

The spoiled attitude of the reviewers when they give off their everything has to be perfect argument is getting annoying.

I downloaded Butcher Bay off the internet, but it didn't load right. Now that this is out, I WILL play Butcher Bay and the "mildly disappointing sequel" with pride. I love "CoR: Pitch Black", I am not a fan of "CoR: Dark Fury" nor "The Chronicles of Riddick"

It's hard to judge this game. It's not that it's bad ... it's just that it's not that good.Yet somehow it overcomes that and you find yourself having fun.And isn't that what games are supposed to be about ?

But yes i do agree that Butcher Bay is the better game.

This is one of the best games i've ever played for the xbox and the xbox 360, don't know why they gave it this bad rating, but for me it's still one of the better games out there....

this is why i dont listen to any of gamespot's reviews.
dark athena was great, and their criticisms seem like they are pulling it out of thin air and are things you can say about any game, if you wanted to criticize it. "none of the elements are balanced well... lacks spark... nothing flows together... stilted". sounds more like the ranting of a pissed off anti-fanboy. i only found 2 parts of the game as "predictable" and to lump the whole game as "predictable"... well thats why i only watch these reviews to kill time
however, i do agree the multiplayer is bad

I think I just died a little on the inside... Thanks Kevin, you give me yet another reason to not trust Gamespot, especially with your broken reviews... I would like to buy this game, especially for the sequel, but now that I know what happens in the story... Seems sort of... Useless for me to buy the game if I know whats going to happen... It may be 7, but it won't stop me from buying... Guess I will play it for the First campaign... and Achievements....
