1C launching console offensive

Traditionally PC-centric Perimeter publisher bringing Captain Blood to 360, IL-2 to PS3, 360, PSP, DS.

As the self-proclaimed No.1 Eastern European game publisher, 1C has made its reputation on the backs of PC games like IL-2 Sturmovik, Perimeter, and Space Rangers 2: Rise of the Dominators. Now the company is making a concentrated push into the console market.

This week, 1C confirmed that it would be publishing games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and DS. The company will be bringing IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, the latest in its long line of PC World War II flight sims, to all four of those systems, and the long-in-development action-adventure Captain Blood will set sail for the Xbox 360.

1C has previously dabbled in the console world with Swashbucklers: Blue vs. Grey on the PlayStation 2 (published in cooperation with Atari). It also planned to release the sci-fi action-adventure Rage Rider (also known as Axle Rage) on the PC and PlayStation 2, but that project was canceled.

    The 'Captain Blood' game i remember was the space exploration game where you zipped around the Galaxy discovering new alien races, planets, etc. A pirate!! Eh!?

    News were about publisher, but it should be mentioned that Birds of Prey for PS3 & X360 is developed by Gaijin Entertainment, same company that makes X-Blades.

    IL-2 on consoles? Are they going to make flight joysticks w/ throttle for consoles, or dumb the game down? I can't imagine IL-2 being playable with a gamepad.

    Not that I have anything against IL-2 on console, just hoping they won't dumb the game down. PSP and DS versions will of course be completely different from the fully featured versions.

    I hope they put a bit more effort into publicising their games on consoles, as their efforts on PC games have been poor. They do a lot of publishing for small companies making niche games, but spend very little on advertising them.

    I think this company is going to fail miserably and go bankrupt...what they are bringing to the table is just reworked versions of other games.

    Deathtrak--->twisted metal, and full auto
    cryostaesos--->bioshock
    the world war two ones----> come on even with all these games being brought in, they are just setting themselves up for a massive fail

    !C wans in on some of the profits like Take-Two, who had a 163% profit with GTA4. Yeah, I would want some of that too, but can they produce.

    wow it would be gerat to see a TRUE fightsim like the il-2 games on consoles and not just arcady games like ace combat. i have been a very active memeber in the IL-2 comunity for some 5 years and its been great. draw back is the need to have pricey set ups to play on. i know guys who pay more for there flight sticks,rudder peddles and TIR than i spent on my ps3 and hdtv lol. i know a few that have spent nearly as much on there PC set ups including upgrades custom cockpit recreatons ect than what my 05 montecarlo cost me IN 05 lol. being able to play a true flight sim on a 400 dollor ps3 would be great.

    They should start developing something other than games about pirates, after so many years.

    iesexywarden - you are accusing someone of trolling - but that's what YOU are doing with that post. You are also mini-modding, trying to get someone in trouble by making a post complaining about a rule violation. You must be from IGN forums, where they don't tolerate even the thought of someone saying something another person doesn't like! This is Gamespot, not IGN - we are allowed a little bit more room to speak our minds here.,, and there aren't any cliques here, either.

    So what if pourya is getting tired of exclusives on the xbox - what's it to you - and why would you get so "incited" as to call him a troll (your getting angry, but you want blame it on him)? Chill out dude - this is an entertainment site.

    On the article - I never played any of those games - but I do care in the sense of it becoming a trend. The best thing for any game is for it to be sold multi-platform. It's good for US and it's good for the developer. This article is careful not to say whether the games will ALSO be published for the consoles or ONLY - it sounds like they will also be, and actually I don't see anything about exclusivity here - be careful with carefully constucted articles, and don't assume anything that isn't said - it usually isn't said for a reason (no decision made in the matter, subject doesn't want to put off market, trade secrets, market deception, etc.).
