Braid tangled up in PSN

Hothead Games confirms plans to bring Jonathan Blow's highly regarded puzzle-platformer to Sony's online platform in NA, EU; release TBA.

Jonathan Blow's Braid is widely regarded as one of the best games of 2008, an accomplishment made all the more significant by the fact that it saw first run as a downloadable title through Xbox Live. Having since expanded to the PC and Mac desktop platforms, it appears as if Blow's story-driven puzzle-platformer will also see release on the PlayStation 3, courtesy of Penny Arcade Adventures developer Hothead Games.

The news comes by way of the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK), otherwise known as Germany's game software rating board. According to a listing in the USK's online database, Hothead Games will serve as the game's publisher on the PlayStation 3. (Microsoft Game Studios published the game on Xbox Live.) The game was also given the most inclusive age ranking possible in the USK's system, indicating Braid was not submitted in playable form.

A Hothead Games representative confirmed that the studio is indeed prepping Braid for release through the PlayStation Network in North America and Europe. Unfortunately, the rep also noted that Hothead has yet to determine when the game will be available.

The rating comes as the industry gears up for GamesCom, Europe's newest industry event sponsored by Germany's Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware (German Federal Association for Entertainment Software). In 2007, the BIU announced that it would be pulling its support from the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, dooming that show and in the process establishing GamesCom in the more cosmopolitan city of Cologne. GamesCom is set to run August 19-23.

One of my favorite games on the 360, I'll def buy again on PS3. Just another excuse to play through it again. =P

Besides Halo 3 and Gears of War, does the 360 have any exclusives left on it? If there were a way that I could use the 360 controller on a PS3, i think i'd convert.

You're on crack kid, and your wry attempts of sarcastic belittling are poor at best. Quote me and maybe you'll have some ground for your weightless claim. The first comment I left on this particular news feed was directed towards you in response to being called a Nazi. Stop acting like an asanine tool and bugger off.

    @SovietAgent

What in the hell are you talking about? I haven't even posted a comment relating to this news feed and here you are directing loose words and ignorant comments towards me. Who is the real nazi? LOL
The guy directing comments towards an innocent person who never said anything directed towards him about Braid. Ow wait, and the same person with the name soviet agent! HAHA

No need to be a nazi, I was just expressing my opinion. You can be a fanboy though and think that everyone who doesn't think Braid is the greatest arcade game is absolutely wrong.

@kratos788, no, it's not about convincing. It's what my friends and I do. Sometimes I buy the games, sometimes they buy the games. I bought Bionic Commando Rearmed, one friend of mine picked up SFII Turbo HD Remix, another bought WipEout HD. It's just how we do it. I'll let one of them pick up Braid; I'll wait for Trine.

Woot woot! I've been wanting to play this game. One less reason for me to get a 360 when I already have a ps3!

There are many arcade titles substantially better than Braid, however the trial version of Braid just didn't appeal to me. However the time reversal & puzzles was pretty cool. Braid was also 15$ when it came out. I feel like there are better (or cheaper but just as good) arcade games as opposed to Braid.

    Battlefield 1943
Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers
    Worms 2: Armageddon
    Marvel vs Capcom 2

Although one could make the arguement that I don't really have the "appreciation" for Braid, but I actually understand what they mean, I am actually not really one for puzzle games, I guess given the list I showed you, I like those easy games where you beat the crap out of each other

I see no reason not to. I intend on getting this for the PS3, and I certainly think that the Wii would be another great platform for this little jewel.

@Dualmask, u are just a big freealoader arent u? convincing ur friend to buy it so u can get it for free on his expense, tsk tsk tsk. If it were up to me i wouldnt give u anything just for saying that. I got an idea, if u want to see what its all about so bad, buy it yourself.

For all the people who aren't sure whether this is worth it, there's a free PC demo available for download.

I'll see if I can convince a buddy of mine to get this so I can yoink it and see what it's all about. $15 sounds steep, even though it's probably worth it quality-wise. If it were a DS/PSP game or something, I could see myself doing it for $20, beating it and selling it back since I'd never play it again.

    D3A7HJOK3R:

It's an EXCELLENT game, I just played it, but not worth 10 bucks or however much it is (played it round a friends). Fat Princess looks like it would be a much better purchase - or just some game; I personally don't find add-ons worth it.
