SCi revenue to hit £70 million

British publisher says success of Just Cause, Lego Star Wars, Justice League is reason for profits spike; confirms more Just Cause, Hitman, Tomb Raider on the way.

Eidos' parent company, SCi Entertainment Group, has announced that its revenue in the first half of its financial year is expected to pass £70 million (approximately $138 million), a 40 percent increase over the same period last year.

New product releases accounted for 50 percent of revenues for the six-month period to December 31, 2006, with the multiplatform launch of Just Cause in September being the group's most successful new product in that period.

SCi said it expects Just Cause to sell more than 1 million copies before the end of this financial year. Because of the game's strong sales, Eidos said a sequel is in development--confirming rumors that sprang up just a month after the original's release.

Other top sellers included the original Lego Star Wars--first launched in April 2005--which continues to sell, tallying up more than 5.4 million copies sold. Eidos also expects Justice League Heroes to hit 1 million in sales before the year's end.

The company also released some details of its plans for 2007, among them Eidos' plan to launch its first Wii titles in Europe, which will include Bionicle Heroes, in Q2. New next-gen versions of Tomb Raider, Hitman, and Championship Manager, alongside new IP including Kane & Lynch and Crossfire, are also underway. Eidos will also be releasing Battlestations: Midway on the 360 and PC in February.

SCi will also be moving further into the casual-games market, with titles coming in 2007 including Diner Dash, Zendoku, and PC versions of "classic" casual games such as Luxor: Amun Rising, Jewel Quest, and Cubis 2.

The statement added that, as in previous years, the group expected the majority of revenue and product releases to come in the second half of the year.

Match 3 games are getting boring,Luxor was just a copy of Zuma not much else.
Diner Dash on the other hand is pretty good, but like Luxor is just a rip off of an already successful title,Diner Dash is also plagued by copy cats flooding the market.

I tried Just Cause for the 360. Graphics were ok on it, and the stunt system was awesome. But the game was wayyyy too easy, the auto targeting made everything simplistic to incomprehensibility. I got it from Gamefly and damn glad I did, its not worth a buy. Don't waste your time on it. Justice League Heroes is next on my list.

Rock on Eidos! I'm so glad that SCi's bought out Eidos. You know how good the atmosphere of the old Tomb Raider games makes you feel when you play them?? Yeah, can you find that sort of feeling in any other game?

Thank god they keep on making Hitman games virtually forever even though I haven't even played one of them, but I will. This series is a bit similar to the Jedi Knight series in that you know that you'll be enjoying them a lot!

Also, I think that Crossfire is poised to be way better than its similar EA counterpart Army of Two, coz EA just can't make good AI, and especially since its lengthier development time looks like it should help in that case.

I love the fact that more Tomb Raider games are coming, but Eidos is slowly and unforgivably killing one of its greatest franchises. I would trade all the Hitmans, Just Causes and new IPs in the world for one more Legacy of Kain game. Please.

Can we expect a knockout next-gen LoK game from Crystal D, or are you going to let this generation of hardware slip through your fingers?

No more Laura? You must be a child and you know not what you speak. This game was a hit before you were born...literally. I'm very excited about Next Gen where Lady Croft is concerned. Any woman who can work an M-16 and H&K MP-5 at once has my respect.
