In its attempt to help hype Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams' forthcoming reboot of the Star Trek film franchise, Paramount Pictures has apparently revealed a secret game project. Fan site Trekmovie.com has posted a scan of a flyer that its editors found tucked inside the Blu-ray set of Season 1 of the original Star Trek series.

The scan appears to be for a game titled Star Trek: DAC developed by Naked Sky Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based studio behind the decently received sci-fi action game RoboBlitz, released on Xbox Live and the PC in 2006. With its depiction of the new Enterprise from the film in a space battle with several Romulan vessels, the game appears to be a space combat title, perhaps similar to the Battlestar Galactica tie-in from late 2007.

Star Trek: DAC's release date is listed as May, no doubt to coincide with its film inspiration's May 8 premiere. However, the game may be less exciting that it appears. Its publisher is listed as being Paramount Pictures Games, which has released only iPhone movie tie-in games for films such as School of Rock and Shooter, according to its Web site. Attempts to elicit comment from Paramount about the game were unsuccessful as of press time.

I think some of you people have missed the whole point of Gene Roddenberrys vision of Star Trek. It wasn't about killer special FX, or even great performances by the various Actors that have played our favorite characters. its about the bright future of Humanity, that has learned how to work together to end war and disease. to reach out and explore. most times with an Olive branch, sometimes with a sword. I think the Ideals of Star Trek are more important then the "cannon" of Star Trek

Another game based on a movie, rushed to production, can't be good news. And if it's all just 'space battles' ya can forget it. If they side on an Elite Force format... it might be worth picking up.

I hope the movie is good. I have no such delusions about a hastily cobbled together game tie-in.

Movies gona blow, games gona blow. If they were really smart they'd set a movie a few decades after Nemesis, worked with TNG.

Sadly, this will probably end up being pretty awful.

I love how everybody seems to know a movie will suck even before it is released. I must learn this secret.............

I have little hope for this movie. It looks like an action movie for teenagers with a Star Trek theme. Maybe it'll be good for people who aren't trekkies, but I'm expecting more of slap in the face to the people who are.

Needless to say, I have even less hope for this game.

Frankly, with Orci and Kurtzman destroying what little dignity the franchise had left with this optmistically phrased "reboot" movie in which every character speaks their thoughts aloud the instant they have them, a tie-in game was to be expected.

I'm more surprised when movies don't get a game counterpart these days...

I thank whatever deity might be watching every day that there wasn't a Dark Knight movie tie-in game.

    Double post=Fail... sorry!

Also, the fact that it should be out in less than 3 months, and this is the first whisper we've heard about it does not bode well.

I want a good good Star Trek game so badly... so, so badly. Unfortunately, I don't see a movie tie in being that game. For a Star Trek game to work, it needs it's own original plot, developed by actual Star Trek writers (not effing JJ Abrams), and an investigation of some sorts. Star Trek has never been an action show, and almost all the games seem to be action based. I know it's too early to tell for sure, but if this isn't just a generic space-ship shooter, I'll be shocked.

I'm a long-time Star Trek fan, and I don't have high hopes for the movie, much less this game.
