The Bottom Line:
"Almost, but not quite"
Everybody loves a medieval assassins with great climbing and killing moves right? Assassins Creed brings the public a very interesting combination of free world roaming and assassinating a bad guy.

Gameplay wise AC got it mostly right. The climbing was extremely fun to do and the swift killing moves never gets old. When Altair was jumping from a high building like an eagle the first time, I think my exact words were... "Awsome as hell". Its absolutely a fantastic game gameplay wise.

You have a hidden dagger at your disposal that kills instantly, however this means you have to be close to your target. You also have throwing knifes that can be used to pick of guards at a very far range. As a last resort you have your trusty sword to defend yourself and kill any guards that are in your way, when your cover is blown.

Altairs best weapon however is his ability to climb on rooftops at a fast rate and use the height to his advantage to observe the target and ways to sneak in. He can use his eagle vision to quickly see where he and his guards are in a crowd of people.

When Altairs cover is blown he needs to get away from those guards fast and hide. He is especially fast in a straight line, when your indicator gives you the signal to hide you can then just sit on a bench or in a haystack to lose the guards.

However the repetitiveness really gets it after 2 hours of playing. It quickly becomes clear what to do and how to move on. After that, its just the same thing over and over again. This is where Assassins Creed misses that 9.5 rating. The repetitiveness shows.

You are supposed to kill 9 people in 3 different kind of cities. To get to those targets you have to do the exact same things 9 times. It gets old fast. Ofcourse those specific people have to be killed very differently, but that is it. The rest is the exact same stuff over and over again. Thank god Ubisoft promises to make AC 2 more varied next time.

The graphics are fantastic and very convincing, some images really are wow-like. I have nothing but good things to say about its graphics. Those animations while climbing and fighting guards are very satisfying to see and do.

Assassins Creed music doesn't really stick out to either good or bad. The sounds are no different, good but not amazing.

Story wise is AC unique, it has a modern and medieval feel to it at the same time. I saw the ending coming but its not that big a give away either.

Assassins Creed is a game you should play, if only to do those breathtaking stunts and kills. However the repetitiveness really strikes it in the hearth. I suggest first renting it. And see if you still like it playing at the end of the game.

Gameplay: 9.5/10
Graphics: 10/10
Sounds: 8.5/10
Story: 8.5/10
