Pool Paradise announced

Ignition Entertainment has today announced that it will publish Pool Paradise on the PC and all current generation consoles in Europe in March 2004. The game, which is currently in development at Archer Maclean's Awesome Studios, is being developed in collaboration with snooker player Jimmy White and will be set on a desert island in the South Pacific.

"Archer's snooker- and pool-related games have sold over 2 million copies since initially appearing on the Amiga and Atari ST back in the early '90s, and with this being his final version of the genre, we're confident of success," said Peter Rollinson, product manager at Ignition Entertainment. "But this is far more than a simple update. Pool Paradise offers players more options, tables, and minigames than any title previously. Put simply, it's the definitive version of one of the greatest games in the world."

Players will start the game with no money, but, as they progress through the game, they'll earn money by beating the 30 other players in the island league. Money earned in the game can be spent on unlocking minigame and additional locations on the island. Pool Paradise will feature no fewer than 12 different eight- and nine-ball rules sets and numerous minigames, including a cannonball coconut shy, darts, and an arcade hut containing a Dropzone cabinet.
